Discovering Top Institutes and Labs in Stem Cell Research with Dr. Anujit Kumar
Date- 14/04/2025
Location – Bengaluru, Karnataka, India
The webinar “Top Institutes and Labs in Stem Cell Research,” hosted by BioTecNika, features expert insights from Dr. Anujit Kumar, a distinguished Stem Cell researcher. Dr. Kumar guides viewers through the exciting landscape of Stem Cell science, detailing the roles of leading global institutes and labs contributing to advances in Regenerative Medicine.
Exploring the Power and Promise of Stem Cells
The webinar opens with an engaging introduction by Dr. Kumar, who emphasizes the transformative role of Stem Cells, often called “miracle cells”, in revolutionizing medicine. Highlighting the immense potential of stem cells to treat degenerative diseases, grow replacement organs, and reduce dependency on transplants, Dr. Kumar guides viewers through the expanding landscape of Stem Cell research.
Key Highlights from the Session
- Human embryonic Stem Cells and their differentiation into critical cell types like neural cells, cardiomyocytes, and germ cells.
- The pioneering work of Dr. James Thompson from Wisconsin Medicine and Amanaka’s breakthrough in developing induced Pluripotent Stem Cells (iPSCs) using four transcription factors.
- The use of CRISPR-Cas9 and somatic cell nuclear transfer in de-extinction research, such as cloning the dire wolf, was led by John Gordon’s laboratory.
- The development of brain organoids to model neuropsychiatric disorders was done by Dr. Pasca, and advanced cardiac organoid research was conducted at the Technical University of Munich under Dr. Allesandra Moretis.
- The molecular studies of heart development at Johns Hopkins University by Dr. Cholan Kwam and Luven’s laboratory exploration of Hematopoietic and organ-specific Stem Cells.
- The innovative contributions of Dr. Aronzone and Dr. MDNA Codes in creating gut, lung, and embryo-like organoid models.
