Job Details:
The National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER), Bhubaneswar, is inviting applications from eligible Indian citizens for Post-Doctoral Fellow (PDF) positions. The positions fall under the DAE-funded project RIN4002-SBS-Basic Research at the School of Biological Sciences (SBS). These positions are temporary and available until March 31, 2026, with fellowship and benefits as per the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE), Government of India norms.
Essential Qualifications:
PhD in Life Sciences, Molecular Biology, Genetics, Genomics, Bioinformatics, Biochemistry, Biophysics, or Computational Biology.
Research Focus:
The project investigates the molecular mechanism of eukaryotic translation initiation, with a special focus on non-AUG-based mechanisms.
Desirable Skills:
Candidates with experience in cloning, protein purification, fluorescence polarization spectroscopy, and genomics analysis are preferred. A strong publication record and excellent communication skills are highly desirable.
Lab Overview:
Dr. Pankaj V. Alone leads the Translation Control Research Group, utilizing advanced biochemical, biophysical, and genetic tools to dissect the non-AUG translation initiation process. The lab focuses on yeast genetics, in vitro translation system reconstitution, and ribosome-mRNA interaction studies.
Fellowship Details:

RA-I: ₹58,000/month – Less than 1 year post-PhD

RA-II: ₹61,000/month – 1–2 years post-PhD

RA-III: ₹67,000/month – 2–3 years post-PhD
HRA and contingency grant are applicable as per DAE rules.
