At Illumina, we are seeking an EHS Specialist to support the Global EHS strategy for compliance and risk management, focusing on Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and chemical management processes. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in ensuring safety and regulatory compliance while collaborating with stakeholders and managing key EHS systems.
Position Summary
The EHS Specialist at Illumina will be responsible for authoring Safety Data Sheets using the SAP EHS Module, coordinating with stakeholders to ensure compliance, and managing hazardous chemical information. This role will involve collaborating with internal teams, vendors, and regulatory standards to enhance product safety and maintain legal compliance.
Responsibilities
- Author Illumina product SDS using SAP EHS software in coordination with the Global EHS team and stakeholders.
- Support maintenance of the SAP EHS Module for data integrity and regulatory compliance.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather information for SDS authoring and ensure alignment with regulatory standards.
- Plan, coordinate, and execute the transition of legacy SDSs to the SAP EHS Module.
- Ensure SDSs adhere to relevant regulations such as OSHA’s Hazard Communication Standard (HCS) and the Globally Harmonized System (GHS).
- Provide SDS data to stakeholders and manage updates with the Right to Know (RTK) Vendor (3E).
- Support the RTK system and manage on-site chemical inventory for compliance.
- Deliver training on SDS content, chemical safety, and hazard communication processes.
- Identify and implement process improvements in SDS authoring, RTK system, and chemical inventory management.
- Act as the regulatory audit point of contact for hazard communication and chemical inventory.
- Collaborate with global EHS teams to align hazard communication and inventory programs.
Education And Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree, in Industrial Safety, Occupational Health & Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Sciences, Environmental or Safety Engineering, Biology, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Public Health, Business, IT Management, or related discipline with 2 years of industry experience.
- Proven expertise in the SAP EHS Module, including system configuration and customization.
- Experience in project management.
- Hands-on experience with SAP EHS Module and 3E systems (or similar systems) is highly preferred.
- Strong understanding of OSHA Hazard Communication Standard (HCS), Globally Harmonized System (GHS), and Dangerous Goods (DG) classifications.
- Proven ability to manage vendor relationships and ensure compliance with contractual obligations.
- Experience with data management, regulatory compliance, and EHS systems troubleshooting is a plus.
- The ability to learn technical processes quickly.
Requirements
