Applications are invited in prescribed format for the following contractual post for ICMR supported project “Health Technology Assessment in India (HTAIn) and DHR-ICMR Advanced Molecular Oncology Diagnostic Services – DIAMONDS Center’ at Dr B Borooah Cancer Institute, Guwahati”.

[A] Name of post: Scientist ‘C’

No. of Posts: 01 (one)

Consolidated salary: Rs. 67,000/- (Sixty Seven Thousand Rupees only) per month + HRA

Upper age limit: 40 years (relaxable in exceptional cases)

Educational Qualifications & Experience:

Essential:

First Class Master’s degree in Molecular Biology or Biotechnology, Medical Biochemistry. Applied Biology, Life Sciences from a recognized university with 4 years of experience in relevant area.
OR,
Second Class M.Sc with PhD degree in relevant subject from a recognized university with 4 year of experience in relevant area.
OR,
B.Tech Biotechnology from a reputed university with 6 years of research experience.

Desirable:

i) Doctorate (Ph.D.) in Molecular Biology or Genetics from a recognized university for candidates with first class relevant degree.
ii) Knowledge of Bioinformatics, Computer Applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel etc.) or Business Intelligence tools / Data Management.
iii) Candidate should have working knowledge in Histopathology Techniques including IHC, PCR, RT PCR & FISH
iv) Additional Post-doctoral research training experience in Molecular Biology or Genetics subjects in recognized institute (s).
v) Two years R&D / Teaching experience in relevant subject after obtaining essential qualification.
vi) Proficient to read, write and speak in English and Hindi.

Note:

(i) PhD degree in relevant subjects shall be treated equivalent to three years experience.

Job Profile:

  • Responsible for the scientific, and/or technical aspects of the implementation of HTA projects of DHR.
  • Invitation of applications / proposals from the States / Medical Colleges / Institutions for HTA studies and coordinating with them for project work.
  • Contracting and coordinating with other partner Institutes (Medical Colleges / Hospitals) associated with the study.
  • Help in preparing specifications of various instruments and consumables to be used for various tests conducted in the project.Hands on guidance for conduct of various instruments and consumables to be used for various tests conducted in the project.
  • Hands on guidance for conduct of various molecular tests and training the technical assistants to carry out the tests practically.
  • Help in writing of any significant laboratory work for publication I reputed journals. Help in monitoring and maintaining the project budget including expenditure details with receipts filing.
  • Overall coordination and conduct of project activities including analysis and report writing.
  • Conducting Workshops/ seminars/ Stake holders meeting etc. and contribute to drafting official reports, including summaries of workshops and events.
  • Any other work assigned by PI and the Department of Health Research, ICMR

[B] Name of post: Research Assistant

No. of post: 01 (one)

Consolidated salary: Rs. 35,000/- (Thirty-Five Thousand Rupees only) per month

Upper age limit: 40 years (relaxable in exceptional cases)

Educational Qualifications & Experience:

Essential:

Graduate (B.Sc/ B.Tech) in relevant subject from a recognized university with three years’ work experience OR Post graduate (Master’s) degree in Molecular Biology, Genetics OR Medical Biochemistry with prior experience in handling human samples in Diagnostic work.

Desirable:

(i) Two years’ work experience in handling patient diagnostic samples, preferably from a reputed molecular diagnostic laboratory.
(ii) Candidate should be well versed with molecular techniques, handling of PCR, RT PCR, gene sequencing with one year experience in a diagnostic laboratory. Should have working knowledge in Histopathology techniques including IHC. Ability to use computer applications.
(iii) Experience in writing reports and scientific documents.
(iv) Proficient to read, write and speak in English and Hindi.

Job Profile:

The Research Officer is required for performing following activities:

  • Conduct of structured literature search.
  • Do data entry and data management
  • Assisting in storage of data
  • Analysis of data
  • Analysis of weekly reports of interviewers’ compliance of the partner institutes.
  • Contribute in drafting key documents of the project and in organizing workshops and training programs.
  • Providing scientific and technical support in conduct of study
  • Coordinating among the project staff at the partner institutes.
  • Monitoring the effective conduct of data collection process
  • To organize data quality review meetings.
  • Assist in data cleaning and storage
  • Ensure maintenance of project data and consent forms in collaboration with study staff
  • Timely summarization of study results along with Data analysis
  • Maintaining all study records and verify case record forms.
  • Daily update of study progress to the PI.
  • Attending project meetings.
  • Preparation of reports of partner institute related to utilization of project resources.
  • Regular liaising to ensure satisfactory progress of project activities
  • Responsible for quality control and conduct of various tests from sample receive till release of reports.
  • Hands on guidance for conduct of various molecular tests and training the technical assistants to carry out the tests practically.
  • Contacting and coordinating with other partner Institutes (Medical Colleges / Hospitals) associated with the study.
  • Any other work assigned by PI and the Department of Health

Place of Posting: Dr B Borooah Cancer Institute, Guwahati

Job Duration: 11 months, extendable depending upon candidates performance and budget allocation from ICMR (funding agency).

The selection will not be an employment on Dr B Borooah Cancer Institute’s pay-roll. Employment will automatically get terminated upon completion of the 11 months from the day of joining of duties and there is no liability for permanent employment on Dr. B. Borooah Cancer Institute or on Principal Investigator. The candidate will have NO right to claim for permanent Employment under AIIMS / DHR or continuation of his/her services in any other project.
