Scope of Position:
The Application Specialist at Corning Lifesciences will provide technical expertise to manage internal and external customers, address inquiries, and provide guidance related to cell culture, bioprocesses, and drug discovery products of Corning
Lifesciences.Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
- Provide technical support to customers regarding application questions, troubleshooting advice, and product selection via e-mails, phone calls, and customer visits.
- Maintain close relationships with cross-functional teams to support business targets, identify trends and opportunities, and resolve technical queries that customers are facing using our products.
- Work with the life sciences application team to find and close bioprocess, media, and advanced surface sales opportunities by providing solutions that meet/exceed financial targets.
- Maintain and improve knowledge databases and other technical resources.
- Participate in product and application trainings, seminars, and events to stay updated with new technologies.
- Provide in-depth pre- and post-sales support of key products in the form of technical briefs, on-site product demonstrations/training.
- Establish and leverage technical credibility to meet customer expectations.
- Contribute to the development of applications, knowledge, experimental designs, and technical documents.
- Provide market insight and product feedback.
Travel Requirements: Up to 30% travel required
Required Education and Experience for Application Specialist Job:
- Bachelor’s with relevant experience or Master’s degree or Ph.D. in a scientific discipline
- Minimum 7+ years of relevant experience in microbial culture, cell culture, bioprocess, etc.
Required Skills:
- Familiarity with adherent and suspension technology for scale-up/scale-down, Bioreactor experience a plus.
- Proven track record of developing and executing cell culture process development protocols.
- Good understanding of basic cell culture research and technology trends, including Cancer Biology, Cell and gene Therapy market and trends.
- Knowledge of the drug development process from pre-clinical to clinical phases.
- Multi-tasking experience, flexibility, and understanding of the business impact to address immediate priorities and manage deadlines with longer-term projects and strategic initiatives.
- Ability to take day-to-day operational decisions related to service quality, customer support, and balancing short- and long-term commercial impact and customer expectations.
Desired Experience / Qualifications / Skills for Application Specialist Job:
- MS degree in a technical discipline, preferably in biotechnology/biological sciences.
- 5+ years Bioprocess R&D / production experience.
- Experience with vaccine and/or viral vector (AAV, Adenovirus, and/or Lentivirus) production is a plus
- Experience working with CMOs and managing projects.
- Knowledge of the downstream processing of Bipharmaceuticals
- Proficient in English.
