Applications are invited for the position of Project Research Scientist – II (Non-Medical) to work on “A novel host-directed therapy for the prevention of bacterial meningitis and meningoencephalitis by enhancing the xenophagy-mediated clearance of pathogenic bacteria.” under the guidance of Principal Investigator Prof. Ravi Manjithaya, Molecular Biology and Genetics Unit (MBGU), JNCASR, Bengaluru 560 064.
Position & Eligibility:
Position: Project Research Scientist-II (Non-Medical)
Remuneration: Rs. 67,000 plus 30% HRA
Max. Age Limit: 40 years
No. of Positions: ONE
Essential Qualification: First Class Post Graduate Degree, including the integrated PG degrees with three years of relevant experience or Ph.D.
Desirable Qualification: A dedicated researcher with a Ph.D. awarded in the last 1–2 years, possessing expertise in microbiological techniques and handling neuroinvasive pathogenic cultures, proficiency in molecular techniques such as western blot, immunofluorescence, and immunohistochemistry, experience with advanced imaging methods, including confocal and electron microscopy, skilled in cell culture, primary neuronal culture, and animal breeding and maintenance.
Candidates should also have a strong background in brain-targeted drug delivery in mice (including various intracranial and systemic injection techniques), analyzing brain sections to assess infection progression and the therapeutic effects of experimental molecules, and the generation and maintenance of transgenic mouse models using Cre-lox recombination technology.
Prior experience in preclinical studies is mandatory. Preference will be given to candidates with extensive research experience in the relevant fields. Candidate should be a team player and demonstrate working with collaborations. This position requires a commitment of three years.
