BRIC-Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology (RGCB) is seeking applications for a Project Fellow position in a KSCSTE-funded research project led by Dr. Shijulal Nelson Sathi. This role focuses on the genomic and evolutionary characteristics of multidrug-resistant S. aureus isolates in Kerala. Candidates with a Master’s degree in Microbiology or Biotechnology and experience in BSL2 bacterial pathogens are encouraged to apply. The project will be based at RGCB’s Akkulam Campus, Thiruvananthapuram.

Position Details: Applications are invited from suitable candidates (Indian Citizens) for one position of Project Fellow under the supervision of Dr. Shijulal Nelson Sathi in the Transdisciplinary Biology Department. The selected candidate will be responsible for conducting microbiology and bioinformatics research as part of the project.

Essential Qualifications:

  • The candidate must have a Master’s degree in Microbiology / Biotechnology stream.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Experience in handling BSL2 bacterial pathogens.
  • CSIR-UGC NET lectureship, DBT (Category I and II), GATE, or any national-level examination conducted by Central Government Departments and their Agencies and Institutions.

Age: Below 35 years as of March 28, 2025. Age relaxation will be given as per Govt. of India norms.

Emolument:

₹ 22,000/- (consolidated per month).

Duration: Initially for one year and extendable for one more year or till termination of the project, whichever is earlier, based on performance evaluation on a yearly basis.

Selection Process:

  • Applications should be submitted online.
  • Candidates currently working in Government firms should send applications through the proper channels.
  • The last date for receiving completed applications is March 28, 2025.
  • If a candidate wishes to apply for different positions, separate applications should be submitted for each position. Selection of the position will not entitle the candidate to any future positions at RGCB (permanent or otherwise). As with all project positions at RGCB, the position will be co-terminus with the end of the project.
  • Applications that are not in the prescribed format or without any proof of experience will summarily be rejected.
