CALL FOR APPLICATION FOR THE POST OF JUNIOR PROJECT FELLOW FOR BIOTECHNOLOGY PROJECT OF ONGC ENERGY CENTRE
ONGC Energy Centre invites applications from bright, young, enthusiastic engineering/science graduates/postgraduates from reputed institutes in the country, for a fixed tenure assignment by ONGC Energy Centre Trust. The details of the vacancy are as under:
Position: Junior Project Fellow
No. of Vacancy: 02 (No. can be decreased according to need)
Eligibility Criteria:
- Qualification: M.Sc./ equivalent in Microbiology/ Biotechnology
- Experience: Practical experience of isolation/handling/culturing aerobic and anaerobic microbes such as methanogens, hydrolytic, acetogens, oleaginous yeast, etc.
- Desirable Experience: Preference will be given to candidates who have done research work on anaerobes/bio-methanation and microbial processes for biofuels/biosurfactant production.
Job Description & Responsibilities:
- To carry out R&D lab work, in a team, under ongoing projects of the Biotechnology Programme.
- To carry out bulk culture preparation, preservation of anaerobic/methanogenic bacteria, bulk media preparation for field tests, and development and standardization of protocols.
- Analysis of samples collected for post-job monitoring and process performance evaluation.
- Arrangements for further scale-up/pilot studies.
- Drafting of project-related documents, including reports, documents for IPR protection, research publications, etc.
- Assist the Project Manager in various official work of the Biotechnology Programme.

- Rs. 48,260/- per month, which includes a Fellowship Amount of Rs. 38,000/- and HRA Amount of Rs. 10,260/-.
- This amount may be increased to Rs. 50,800/- per month after the successful completion of one year and to Rs. 54,610/- per month after the successful completion of two years.
- Further, a one-time annual incentive of two months’ fellowship amount may also be given to outstanding performers.
Terms of Engagement: The Project Fellow will be initially engaged for a period of one year. The tenure of engagement may be extended on a need basis for a further period, subject to satisfactory individual performance and project requirements. The total duration of engagement as a Project Fellow can be up to a maximum of four years.
Selection Process: Applicants will be considered through a two-tier selection procedure, i.e., screening of application formats, followed by an interview of shortlisted candidates.
Timeline: Successful candidates will have to join duty within 30 days from receipt of the Engagement Letter, failing which the offer may be withdrawn.
