Admission to Ph.D. Programme for the Academic Year 2025-26 (Monsoon Session)
BRIC- National Institute of Immunology (NII) invites applications from eligible candidates for its Ph.D. programme. Cutting-edge research at NII encompasses broad interdisciplinary areas of Immunology, Infectious and Chronic Disease Biology, Molecular and Cellular Biology, Chemical Biology, Structural Biology, and Computational Biology.
Minimum Qualifications:
- M.Sc. in any branch of science (e.g. Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics), M.Tech., M.B.B.S., M.V.Sc., M.Pharm., Integrated M.Sc., or equivalent qualification as per the norms of the Regional Centre For Biotechnology (RCB), Faridabad, Haryana.
- At least 60% aggregate score or equivalent grade in the qualifying examination. Five percent relaxation in aggregate scores will be applicable for candidates from the reserved categories [(OBC (non-creamy layer; NCL), SC/ST, PwD, and EWS (who are not covered under the scheme of reservation for SCs, STs, and OBCs)]. Rounding off the percentage score to the next integral value is not permitted.
- The candidates must have a valid doctoral fellowship sponsored by UGC, CSIR, ICMR, DBT, or any other Government-recognized agency. Students with DST-INSPIRE fellowship are also eligible, provided the fellowship can be activated.
- Candidates appearing for the qualifying examination in the current academic year are eligible to apply; they will be admitted provisionally pending satisfactory fulfillment of the eligibility requirements at the time of joining.
- Candidates awaiting results for the fellowship examination results are also eligible to apply for the entrance examination. However, they will be invited for interviews only if they secure their fellowship.
- Reservations of seats: 15% for SC, 7.5% for ST, 27% for OBC (NCL), 5% for persons with disability (PwD), and 10% for economically weaker sections (EWS) as per statutory norms.
Selection Procedure:
- NII will select candidates for the Ph.D. programme only through the computer-based Entrance Examination, NII-2025-26 M (Monsoon-Session), to be conducted by NII at multiple centers across India on 11th May 2025 (Sunday).
- The list of candidates short-listed for interviews shall be available on the NII website and Notice Board on or before 16th May 2025.
- Interviews (two rounds) will be held online during 3rd – 10th June 2025.
- Candidates selected will be enrolled for the Ph.D. programme of NII in academic affiliation with RCB, Faridabad, Haryana.
Ph.D. Programme:
- The programme will start on 1st July 2025. The allotment of laboratories and thesis supervisors will be made by 9th July 2025 based on the interactions with faculty members in the candidate’s area of interest and mutual preference.
- All candidates must activate their Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) from CSIR, UGC, ICMR, DBT, or DST upon joining NII.
- NII is a residential campus, and shared hostel accommodation will be provided to all students admitted to the programme.
Application Procedure:
- Candidates should submit their applications through NII online application portal only. The details of the application process are available at http://www.nii.res.in.
- Online application fee: Rs.1200/- for GENERAL/OBC (NCL) candidates and Rs.600/- for SC/ST/PwD/EWS (non-refundable).
- Online application facility will be available on the NII website from 17th March 2025 to 8th April 2025.

- The name of the candidate and date of birth should match the corresponding entries in the Secondary School Certificate (10th) or equivalent.
