RECRUITMENT NOTICE FOR SCIENTIST-C POSITION
Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) is an Autonomous Organization under the Department of Health Research, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of India. ICMR is dealing with biomedical/health research in various areas, in collaboration with National/International agencies, through its Headquarters at New Delhi and 27 Institutes/Centres and a large number of field stations situated across the country.
ICMR invites online applications from Indian Citizens, up to 21st April 2025 till 5:30 PM, to fill up 01 post of Scientist-C (Non-Medical) at Infectious Disease Research and Diagnostic Laboratories (IRDL) under ICMR Hqrs., New Delhi, to primarily manage laboratory/bench research. The position is in Level 11 of Pay Matrix (Rs.67,700-2,08,700) (7th CPC Scale) with usual allowances as admissible to ICMR employees. This appointment is on a regular basis under Direct Recruitment with all India transfer liability under the Council.
Position Details:
Description of Stream: Scientist-C (Non-Medical) (01)
Upper Age Limit: 40 years (relaxable in accordance with Govt. of India instructions)
Essential Qualification:
Masters of Science/Technology/Biotechnology from a recognised UniversityEssential Experience: 4 years
Desirable Experience:
- Ph.D. from a recognised University in a subject related to Infectious Diseases Surveillance OR Development of Medical Counter Measures (Vaccine, Therapeutics, or Diagnostics)
- Experience in Infectious Diseases Research
Notes:
- PhD will be considered as 4 years’ experience (irrespective of the duration taken to complete the degree).
- MD/MS or equivalent will be considered as 3 years’ experience.
- MVSc will be considered as 2 years’ experience.
- MPH/M.Tech/ME will not be considered as any experience.
- Experience in Research & Development related to Biomedical Sciences, relevant to the job requirements (Virology, Bacteriology, Mycology, Parasitology) in Govt./Public Sector/Private Institutions will be admissible.
2. SELECTION PROCEDURE:
(i) The Selection would be made based on computer-based written test (MCQs) or interview or both.
(ii) Written test would be based on the understanding of research methods and will be of qualifying nature, with a minimum qualifying score of 75 percentile.
(iii) The top 12 candidates from the qualified list who meet the eligibility criteria based on qualifications and experience will be called for an interview.
3. FEE:
Application Fee (non-refundable) of Rs.1500/- (Rupees one thousand five hundred only) is required. SC/ST/Women/PwBD/EWS candidates are exempted from the application fee. The Application Fee is to be paid online through the link provided in the application form.
5. INSTRUCTIONS FOR FILLING OF ONLINE APPLICATION FORM:
Candidates should fill in the online Application Form with utmost care. Incorrectly filled forms may result in rejection.
A. GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS:
(i) A candidate willing to apply must visit www.icmr.nic.in or https://recruit.icmr.org.in to submit an ONLINE Application in the prescribed format after registering.
(ii) Apply online well in advance without waiting for the last date of submission.
(iii) Candidates must ensure they fulfill the eligibility conditions on the last date of submission. Applications of ineligible candidates will not be accepted.
(iv) Read the instructions carefully before filling the Online Application Form. Verify all details and upload documents before final submission.
(v) After successful submission, candidates can take a final printout of their application.
(vi) No offline applications or copies of downloaded applications will be accepted. However, candidates may need to submit a hard copy with uploaded documents when requested by ICMR.
(vii) The decision of ICMR regarding acceptance, eligibility, and selection will be final. No correspondence will be entertained.
(viii) Documents will be verified only at the time of scrutiny. If any false information is found at any stage, the candidature will be canceled, and the candidate may face criminal prosecution, regardless of whether they benefited from the false information.
(ix) Candidates must carefully fill details such as Name, Father’s/Mother’s Name, Date of Birth, Category, Qualification, Marks Obtained, Passing Year, Photo, and Signature. No changes will be allowed after submission.
B. ONLINE REGISTRATION:
(i) Fill in the mandatory details step by step as the Registration Form cannot be changed once submitted.
(ii) The candidate is responsible for ensuring correct details. ICMR will not be responsible for incorrect entries, cancellation, or lack of communication due to errors in the Registration Form.
(iii) Acknowledgment of successful Online Registration will be sent to the registered email ID/mobile number.
(iv) Duplicate applications will result in cancellation of all applications without intimation.
C. FILLING THE ONLINE APPLICATION:
(i) Registered Users must click on ‘Applicant login’ to access the Application Form using their User ID and password received via email and mobile number.
(ii) Click on the ‘Go to Application Form’ button and read the important instructions carefully. The Application Form is categorized into several sections. You need to fill the application form section-wise. Once the mandatory details in a section are filled, you can move to the next section by clicking on ‘Save and Next’. However, you cannot proceed to the next section if the mandatory information is not filled or the required documents are not uploaded. To navigate back to a previous section, click on the name of the previous section tab. Once you have completed the last section, click on ‘Submit’, and you will be redirected to make the payment. Once the payment is done, your application is considered complete. The fee will only be accepted through Net Banking/Credit Card/Debit Card.
(iii) All applicants must ensure that Photo/Signature and other documents are uploaded as per the provided instructions. Failure to do so may result in rejection of applications.
D. DOCUMENTS TO BE UPLOADED WITH APPLICATION FORM:
Candidates must upload a scanned copy of their self-attested/attested copies of certificates/documents in support of:
- Educational qualifications (from Matric onwards)
- Certificates of detailed marks obtained
- Date of birth certificate
- Category certificate (SC/ST/OBC/PwBD)
- Experience certificates
If a candidate fails to upload self-attested copies of the requisite documents, his/her candidature will be canceled and he/she will not be allowed to participate in further selection stages.
(i) The photograph on the Application Form should be unattested.
(ii) Candidates should not wear caps, goggles, etc. Spectacles are allowed.
(iii) Applications not complying with these instructions or containing an unclear photograph will be rejected.
(iv) Keep a few identical photographs in reserve for use during the Test/document verification.
(v) Any deviation between the actual appearance at the time of the examination and the facial appearance in the photograph pasted on the application will lead to rejection.
