MSc Programme in Biotechnology & Bioinformatics
The MSc programme in Biotechnology and Bioinformatics is a unique dual specialization degree programme that builds competence in both biotechnology and computational biology/ bioinformatics.
- The MSc in Biotechnology and Bioinformatics programme is an interdisciplinary programme that positions you at the cutting edge of basic and applied science, in particular in research.
- The unique dual specialization MSc degree programme incorporates genetic engineering, cell and molecular biology, biochemistry, immunology, fermentation, and downstream processing omics, next gen sequencing, big data analysis and so on in the course of study.
- Practical hands-on training in biotechnology (including PCR, cell and molecular biology, protein chemistry etc.) and bioinformatics (statistics, C, C++, PERL, JAVA, and R etc.) brings the learning experience closer to industry practices. Courses are taught by excellent faculty from industry and academia. The coursework also includes a research project as part of the curriculum. Please see the syllabus for further details.

Eligibility
- Students with a Bachelor’s Degree in any branch of Biological Sciences, Physical/Chemical Sciences, Mathematical/Computational Sciences (with degrees such as B.Agri, B.Pharm, B.Sc, B.Tech/BE, and B.VSc).
- Illustrative eligible subject areas (not limited to) are: Life sciences (Botany, Ecology, Environmental Biology, General Life Sciences, Genetics, Human Biology, Zoology), Bioinformatics, Biotechnology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Statistics, any branch of Agriculture, Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences and Veterinary Sciences.
- Bachelor’s degree with an aggregate score of at least 50% for general category; 45% for reserved category candidates.
- Students in the final semester of their Bachelor’s degree are eligible to apply, subject to meeting the eligibility criteria and submitting the original documents before the last date as announced by the institute.
- Applicants who have had a break in their education or have been employed for a few years are also eligible.
- Indian nationals, NRIs and foreign nationals who have passed the qualifying degree examination outside of India, must submit the Equivalence Certificate issued by the Association of Indian Universities along with their application.
Admission Procedure
The admission to MSc program is based on a national level exam conducted by the institute.
Scholarship
A limited number of scholarships are available for deserving students.

Candidates who satisfy the eligibility criteria must submit the application online along with the appication fee of Rs. 700/- via NEFT.
Selection Process
