Project Title:
Comprehensive Conservation Plan for the Endemic and Tree Cavity Nesting Birds of the Nicobar Archipelago
Principal Investigator: Dr. S. Babu
1. Senior Project Associate
- No. of Positions: Two (2)
- Duration: One year (likely to be extended)
- Monthly Emoluments: Rs.57,000 + HRA
- Upper Age Limit: 40 years (as of 31-03-2025)
Essential Qualifications:
- Post-Graduate degree (M.Sc.) or its equivalent with a minimum of 55% marks in life sciences or environmental sciences (Zoology, Wildlife Biology, Forestry, Conservation Biology, Biodiversity Studies, Ecological Sciences, Environmental Studies, or allied disciplines) from a recognized university.
- Four years of post-PG research experience in relevant scientific projects; OR
- Doctoral degree (Ph.D.) in allied disciplines of life or environmental sciences from a recognized university.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Research experience in avian ecology and bird conservation.
- Proficiency in bird survey methods, sampling design, and ecological concepts related to island ecosystems.
- Willingness to work in remote and challenging environments, with extensive travel by road and sea.
- Skills in data analysis, R programming, and GIS tools.
- Proficiency in English (speaking, reading, writing) and Hindi (speaking).
Role & Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and implement project activities in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
- Support junior staff in achieving project goals.
- Collect, collate, and analyze field data on endemic and cavity-nesting birds.
- Draft project reports and work closely with forest departments and local communities to develop sustainable conservation plans.
2. Project Associate-II
- No. of Positions: Two (2)
- Duration: One year (likely to be extended)
- Monthly Emoluments:
- Rs.42,000 + HRA for CSIR-UGC NET (Lectureship)/GATE qualified candidates.
- Rs.33,000 + HRA for non-NET/GATE qualified candidates.
- Upper Age Limit: 35 years (as of 31-03-2025)
Essential Qualifications:
- Post-Graduate degree (M.Sc.) or its equivalent with a minimum of 55% marks in life sciences or environmental sciences (Zoology, Wildlife Biology, Forestry, Conservation Biology, Biodiversity Studies, Ecological Sciences, Environmental Studies, or allied disciplines) from a recognized university.

3. Project Associate-I
- No. of Positions: Five (5)
- Duration: One year (likely to be extended)
- Monthly Emoluments:
- Rs.37,000 + HRA for CSIR-UGC NET (Lectureship)/GATE qualified candidates.
- Rs.30,000 + HRA for non-NET/GATE qualified candidates.
- Upper Age Limit: 35 years (as of 31-03-2025)
Essential Qualifications:
- Post-Graduate degree (M.Sc.) or its equivalent with a minimum of 55% marks in life sciences or environmental sciences (Zoology, Wildlife Biology, Forestry, Conservation Biology, Biodiversity Studies, Ecological Sciences, Environmental Studies, or allied disciplines) from a recognized university.
