PQA Specialist
JOB SUMMARY
- Build a Total Quality Management culture by driving/developing the capabilities of the Associates on Quality aspects on the job and evaluating process/equipment capabilities through Validations and Process Monitoring.
- Ensure manufacturing processes/process quality activities comply with KORE & ISO, GMP, and local regulations by developing SOPs, providing technical support, and addressing quality problems to protect product integrity.
- Establish and maintain an effective, governed, and documented system for all company processes, ensuring compliance with applicable standards.
- Evaluate new packaging material, ensuring fitness for use and handling all packing material documentation within the quality system.
- Should have digital skills and data analysis skills.
- This position is not an office job; the candidate is expected to:
- Work on the shop floor
- Assist in the startup of a new plant
- Conduct validations, monitoring, data collection
- Prepare reports, audits, implementation, training, etc.
KEY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Process Quality Activities
- Ensure plant operations align with new KORE requirements, regulations, quality management methods, and industry best practices.
- Conduct risk assessments for key plant processes to mitigate quality risks.
- Ensure quality is built into the process by training Associates in Quality monitoring aspects.
- Validate equipment and processes, ensuring adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
- Create a technical library/database, compiling technical information and validation reports.
- Ensure compliance with Standard Manufacturing Instructions (SMI) in production.
- Support teams in using problem-solving tools for root-cause analysis and implementing action plans.
- Oversee Corrective/Preventive actions for PDR, TDQ, and manufacturing problem resolution.
- Perform process validations and capability studies, implementing corrective actions where needed.
- Inspect manufacturing equipment after maintenance/calibration before use.
- Assess existing processes to eliminate non-value activities using OE methodologies.
- Review analysis reports against KO requirements and food regulations for auxiliary materials.
Plant GMP / Security Program
- Ensure strict adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and plant security programs.
- Oversee GMP execution for both outsourced contractors (general facilities) and in-house GMP housekeepers (manufacturing area).
- Manage pest control and housekeeping programs, monitoring contractor and housekeeping performance.
Management System
- Implement Quality requirements (KORE and ISO), suggesting improvements based on food/pharmaceutical industry expertise.
- Lead the team in implementing, assessing, and improving the Quality and Food Safety Management System.
- Support internal audit teams, actively participating in scheduled internal audits for continuous improvement.
New Packaging Development & Routine Incoming Inspection
- Collaborate with Asia Packaging Specialist to develop new packaging suppliers.
- Optimize packaging material to improve TDQ and OTIF performance.
- Ensure packaging materials meet specifications before use.
- Maintain accurate packaging information in PICASSO and related databases.
Capability Development
- Identify training needs of associates.
- Lead midyear/annual performance reviews, provide feedback, and document associate performance.
COMMUNICATION COMPLEXITIES
- Direct impact on manufacturing operations, warehouse, distribution, customer complaint investigations, and resolutions.
ANALYSIS
- Participate in customer visits to resolve quality issues.
- Coordinate quality initiatives with other CPS plants and contribute to corporate cross-audits.
- Maintain daily contact with the Leadership Team, Wider Management Team, and associates across the plant.
JUDGMENT & DECISION MAKING
- Has the authority to recommend stopping beverage base production if any process or product quality issue is identified.
QUALIFICATIONS / COMPETENCIES / SKILLS
- 4-5 years experience in production supervision within the food, beverage, or pharmaceutical industry.
- Familiarity with ISO and Food Safety Quality Systems (KORE knowledge preferred).
- Strong knowledge of:
- Concentrate manufacturing & quality systems
- Project management
- GMP compliance
- Problem-solving methodologies
- Strategic thinking, planning, and execution
- Local food laws and regulations
- Six Sigma methodology or certification preferred.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s or postgraduate degree in Chemistry, Food Science, Biochemistry, Food Technology, or Food Engineering.
