Position Available

Genetics Services Unit (GSU) has been jointly established in 2016 by the National Institute of Biomedical Genomics (NIBMG), Kalyani, Department of Biotechnology, Government of India & Government of West Bengal. The objective of GSU is to provide reliable diagnosis for various genetic defects that manifest either at birth or later in life.

GSU is looking for a motivated individual interested in a career in molecular diagnostics for the position listed below:

Position: Project Assistant

Number of Vacancies: 1

Consolidated Remuneration: ₹20,000 + 24% HRA per month

Essential Qualifications:

1. BSc + Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology (DMLT) with 2 years’ experience in Molecular Biology or Molecular Diagnostic Laboratory
   OR
2. Bachelor of Science (BSc.) Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) with 2 years’ experience in Molecular Biology or Molecular Diagnostic Laboratory
   OR
3. Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Biochemistry / Biotechnology / Genetics / Zoology / Bioinformatics

Age Limit: Should not exceed 35 years on the date of advertisement.

Desirable Qualifications:

1. Experience in genetic and genomic data analysis.
2. Good communication skills in Bengali, Hindi, and English
   .
3. Experience in handling clinical samples and data.

Nature of Duty:

1. Genetic and genomic analyses of biospecimens and data.
2. Maintenance of referral database and laboratory inventory.

Important Information:

1. This position is contractual. The manpower may initially be hired through the Institute’s registered outsourced agency for one year, which is extendable depending on performance, project requirements, and availability of funds.
