Applications are invited for the position of Project Scientist
(starts February/March 2025; tenure of four years)
Name of the Project: DBT-Wellcome Trust India Alliance – Team Science Grant titled
“PEACOCC: Pan-India EArly-onset COlorectal Cancer Consortium”
Name of the Principal Investigator: Murali Dharan Bashyam, Laboratory of Molecular Oncology, CDFD, Hyderabad, India
Essential Qualifications: Doctoral degree in science (or Masters degree in engineering/technology) plus 3-7 years of experience in academia/industry
Desirable Qualifications: Experience in implementing large scale genomics projects, preferably related to cancer
Age Limit: 45 years (relaxable as per Government of India guidelines)
Job Description:
- Overall implementation of the project
- Liaison with Pan-India clinical centres
- NGS data analysis
- Supervision of staff involved in functional characterization of putative driver genetic aberrations
Monthly Emoluments: Rs. 92,000/- to Rs. 1,07,000/- (additional house rent allowance, if applicable)

Broad Research Theme of the Lab:
The principal research interest of the lab is to comprehensively understand the biology of specific cancer types that are common in India
and distinct from their western counterpart(s). Based on results obtained from 25 years of work performed on patient-derived colorectal, pancreatic, esophageal and oral tumor samples, we are presently studying the canonical and aberrant functions of chromatin remodelers ARID1B and ARID2.
