BITS PILANI GOA SUMMER RESEARCH PROGRAM (BGSRP) – 2025

The 2025 BGSRP program is up. Interested students may apply to this program using the link (click). Read carefully the eligibility criteria, general instructions, and important dates before applying to this program.

Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS) Pilani, K K Birla Goa Campus (BITS Goa), an Institute of Eminence in Technology and Sciences, conducts cutting-edge research in the areas of Engineering (Computer Sciences and Information Systems, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Chemical Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering), Sciences (Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Physics), Humanities and Social Sciences, Economics, and Finance.

The summer internship program will provide a platform to young academic talents, scholars, and researchers from reputed academic institutions who are pursuing Graduation/Post-Graduation/Research programs in the disciplines of Science and Technology relevant to BITS Pilani programs to interact with Scientists and Engineers on campus. The scheme has the following objectives:

• To allow young academic talent to be associated with BITS Pilani scientists for mutual learning benefit.
• The “Interns” may benefit from exposure to the Research Institute’s functioning and its established ability to apply theory into practice. This program would facilitate young talents in choosing a career path.
• Applications are invited from academically outstanding and highly motivated graduate and postgraduate students of Indian Nationality for the Summer Internship Programme to be held offline at the BITS Goa Campus during the 2025 Summer.

Important Information:

• ONLY a limited number of projects will be available for the internship, and hence a limited number of students will be selected.
• The selected participants will work on a specific project with a faculty member of the Institute.
• No financial support will be provided to the selected candidates.
• Duration: From 1st week of June 2025 to 4th week of July 2025.
• Last date to apply: 6 PM, 22nd March 2025.

Eligibility Criteria:

The following candidates are eligible to apply for the Internship Scheme:

• The candidate should be a citizen of India.
• The candidate should be pursuing UG/PG from a recognized University/Institution (India/Abroad).
• Candidates who have just completed UG/PG (within six months from the date of degree award) and are seeking an internship opportunity for profile enhancement.
• The candidate should have an aggregate minimum of 60% or a CGPA of 6.32 on a scale of 10 at all levels.
• The disciplines/departments encouraged to apply include Engineering (CS&IS, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Chemical Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering), Sciences (Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Physics), Humanities & Social Sciences, Economics, and Finance.
• No financial support will be provided to the selected participants. See General Instructions below.
• Preference will be given to candidates who are KVPY/DST INSPIRE fellows.

How to Apply?

• You can apply for BGSRP 2025 via the online application form: Click here (coming soon).
• Upload a one-page CV including your name, contact details, educational background, skills, and research interests.
• Arrange a bonafide certificate from your college principal/Head of Department/Institute Director and upload it while submitting your application.
• Arrange a Letter of Recommendation from your teacher. He/she can send it to [email protected].
• Incomplete applications will not be shortlisted.
• Duration: From 1st week of June 2025 to last week of July 2025 (maximum 60 days).
• The selected candidates will work on project problems under the guidance of faculty members at BITS Pilani, K K Birla Goa Campus.

Important Dates and Activities:

• List of BGSRP 2025 Summer Internship Project Problems is available (click).
• Last date to apply (via online form): 6 PM, 22nd March 2025.
• The Letter of Recommendation (LOR) must be sent by the HOD/Dean/College Principal/Director to [email protected] on or before 22nd March 2025. The LOR should preferably be in PDF format and named as XXX_BGSRP2024_LOR.pdf (where XXX = Candidate’s first name in capital letters).
• Applications with the bonafide certificate and LOR will be considered for evaluation. Incomplete applications will not be processed further.
• The list of selected candidates will be uploaded on the BGSRP website in the 1st week of April 2025.
• Selected candidates need to report to BITS Goa campus in the 1st week of June 2025.

General Instructions:

• The final selection right lies with the concerned faculty member, subject to fulfilling the minimum eligibility criteria and project requirements.
• The selected applicants must report to the Heads of Departments at BITS Pilani, K K Birla Goa Campus.
• At the end of the internship, students must submit a project report and deliver a presentation in their respective departments.
• The Departmental Research Committee (DRC) will forward a certified soft copy of the Project Report to the BGSRP Program Coordinator.
• Students cannot publish/use the results from the project work without written permission from the project guide at BITS Goa.
• Accommodation in the student hostel will be arranged by the Student Welfare Division (SWD) at a subsidized rate during the BGSRP program duration.
• The SWD will provide temporary Identity Cards to selected students, which must be visible while on campus.
• BITS Goa mess/canteen facilities can be availed on a payment basis.
• The internship will NOT cover Medical and Transport expenses.
• No financial support (i.e., honorarium) will be provided.
• Absence during the internship must be pre-approved. Unauthorized absences will result in termination of the project, and the HOD will be informed.
• Students must follow the rules and regulations of BITS Pilani, K K Birla Goa Campus.
• A certificate will be issued only after delivering a final seminar at BITS Goa and receiving an endorsement from the project supervisor.
• Evaluation at BITS Goa cannot be used for University/College semester project assessments. Students must follow their University norms for semester project evaluations.
• No articles resulting from the internship can be submitted to Tech-fests/Conferences/Seminars/Journals without written permission from the Project Supervisor at BITS Goa.
