WALK-IN INTERVIEWS FOR DIFFERENT PROJECT POSITIONS ON EXTRAMURAL PROJECTS
IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS
The candidates fulfilling the requirements as per the essential qualifications may attend the Walk-In Interviews as per the date mentioned below. All should report at 09.30 am sharp at the address given below, and those candidates appearing for the interview should register their names in the register, kept at the Security Gate.

Science (NCCS) is an autonomous institution of Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India, for a mandate of basic research, teaching & training, and as a national repository for cell lines/hybridomas etc. The Centre is located in the midst of academically enriched environment of Savitribai Phule Pune University Campus, Pune. Name of the Post: Senior Research Fellow (SRF)
Number of posts: 01 (One)
Name of the Project: Identifying the role of host F-box proteins, a component of E3 ubiquitin ligase complex, in HIV-1 pathogenesis and their potential use as therapeutic target against the virus.
Name of the PI: Dr. Debashis Mitra
Essential Qualification & Experience:
Post Graduate Degree in Basic Science or Graduate / Post Graduate Degree in Professional Course selected through a process described through any one of the following & should have 2 years of research experience.
A. Scholars who are selected through National Eligibility Tests – CSIR-UGC NET including lectureship (Assistant Professorship) and/or GATE.
B. The selection process through National Level examinations conducted by Central Government Departments and their Agencies and Institutions such as DST, DBT, DAE, DOS, DRDO, MoE, ICAR, ICMR, IIT, IISc, IISER, NISER etc.
Desirable Experience: 2 Years research experience as JRF in Mammalian Cell Culture, Molecular Biology and Virology will be necessary for the execution of the project and thus will be preferred.
Project Tenure: Up to 09/06/2027
Total Monthly Emoluments: Rs. 42000 /- + HRA

A. Scholars who are selected through National Eligibility Tests – CSIR-UGC NET including lectureship (Assistant Professorship) and/or GATE.
B. The selection process through National Level examinations conducted by Central Government Departments and their Agencies and Institutions such as DST, DBT, DAE, DOS, DRDO, MoE, ICAR, ICMR, IIT, IISc, IISER, NISER etc
Desirable Experience: The candidate must be acquainted with the complement system and must have worked with macrophages for nearly two years.

B. The selection process through National Level examinations conducted by Central Government Departments and their Agencies and Institutions such aas DST, DBT, DAE, DOS, DRDO, MoE, ICAR, ICMR, IIT, IISc, IISER, NISER etc.
Desirable Experience: The candidate must have experience working in biochemistry and protein chemistry. He/She must be well equipped with experience of carrying out bioassays and invitro assays related to protein biochemistry.

Name of the Project: VAPB at membrane contact sites: ALS-FTD at the crossroads of ER stress, proteostasis, lipid homeostasis and inflammation.
Name of the PI: Dr. Gaurav Das
Essential Qualification & Experience: Master’s Degree in Natural or Agricultural Sciences / MVSc or bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology or Medicine from a recognized University or equivalent.
Desirable Experience: Experience working with Drosophila, including genetic and behavioural experiments.
Project Tenure: Up to 28/02/2029
Total Monthly Emoluments:
- (i) Rs. 31000/- + HRA to Scholars who are selected through:
- (a) National Eligibility Tests – CSIR-UGC NET including lectureship (Assistant Professorship) or GATE or
- (b) A selection process through National level examinations conducted by Central Government Departments and their Agencies and Institutions.
- (ii) Rs. 25000/- + HRA for others who do not fall under (i) above.
Age limit: Not more than 35 years as on last date of application.

Name of the Project: Identifying the neuron-immune pathways that modulate feeding behavior and metabolism in Drosophila.
Name of the PI: Dr. Gaurav Das
Essential Qualification & Experience:
Master’s Degree in Natural or Agricultural Sciences / MVSc or bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology or Medicine from a recognized University or equivalent.
Desirable Experience: Candidate should have some experience with the following techniques:
- At least 6 months of lab experience in a neurobiology lab.
- Proficiency in handling flies as a genetic model organism.
- Experience in performing behavioral experiments in flies and analyzing data.
Project Tenure: Up to 26/09/2027
Total Monthly Emoluments: Rs. 25000/- + HRA
Age limit: Not more than 35 years as on last date of application.

- Copies of NET/GATE/National Level examinations conducted by Central Government Departments and their Agencies and Institutions such as DST, DBT, DAE, DOS, DRDO, MoE, ICAR, ICMR, IIT, IISc, IISER, NISER, etc and other relevant documents, if applicable.
- Caste Certificate, Latest/valid non-creamy layer certificate, if applicable.
- Work experience certificates, if applicable.
The duration of offer will be determined based on fund availability.
Other important Points:
- The Director, NCCS reserves the right to enhance/reduce the number of posts and cancel the recruitment process if required. Additional percentage and experience cut-off will be applied during the screening process if required.
- The prescribed educational qualifications and experience are the bare minimum and mere possession of the same does not entitle candidates to be called for Walk-In Interviews. The Centre reserves the right to call for Walk-In Interviews only those candidates who in its opinion are likely to be suitable.
- The number of candidates to be called for the interview may be restricted to a reasonable limit after taking into consideration the essential qualifications and desirable experience over and above the minimum prescribed in the advertisement. Therefore, it will be in the interest of the candidates to mention all the qualifications and experience in the relevant field at the time of applying. No interim enquiries/correspondence/communication of any sort will be entertained on this matter.
- The above advertised positions are filled up purely on a temporary basis for a limited time on the extramural projects funded by various funding agencies. The position will automatically co-terminate on the completion of the candidate’s tenure. The appointed person shall have no claim of appointment/absorption in the funding agency or in NCCS, Pune.
- Fellowship/Emoluments: Emoluments to the research personnel engaged under project will be made in accordance with the sanction order or latest DST O.M whichever the case may be.
- Age relaxation for advertised positions will be considered as on the date of the Walk-in Interview. Age relaxation of 5 years in case of Women/SC/ST/PH candidates and 3 years in case of OBC candidates will be given as per Government of India rules. OBC candidates must produce latest/valid non-creamy layer certificate. Reservation as per Govt. of India norms will be followed.
- No TA/DA will be admissible for attending the interview.
- Canvassing in any form and/or bringing in any influence will be treated as a disqualification for the post
- The posts advertised shall be need based without any commitment for its filling.
- Selected candidates will have to join duty within one month of receipt of offer of appointment.
