The Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Pune is a premier institute dedicated to research and teaching in the basic sciences. It was established in 2006 by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (renamed Ministry of Education in August 2020). In 2012, IISER Pune was declared as an Institute of National Importance by an Act of Parliament.
The institute invites applications from Indian nationals for the following positions purely on temporary and contractual basis under funded projects:
Name of the Post:
- Senior Research Fellow (SRF)
- Junior Research Fellow (JRF)

Title of the Project: “Metabolic control of cell cycle: from mechanisms to implications on antimicrobial resistance and pathogenesis.”

Funding Agency: DBT / Wellcome Trust India Alliance
Minimum Educational Qualification:
- M.Sc. in Microbiology / Biotechnology / Biochemistry with a minimum of 70% marks or equivalent grade.
- Additional percentage cut-off will be applied and/or research publications will be considered during the screening process if needed.
Preference:
- Candidates with strong expertise in microbiology, handling of BSL-2 pathogens, hands-on experience with imaging techniques such as TEM and Confocal microscopy, protein and RNA analyses will be preferred.
Tenure of the Appointment:
- Initially for a period of 1 year, extendable for a further period subject to satisfactory performance of the incumbent and continuation of the project.
Consolidated Emoluments per Month:
- JRF: Rs. 37,000/- + 24% House Rent Allowance (HRA) with valid CSIR-NET / GATE / DBT – JRF / any other National Level Test conducted by Central Government Departments and their agencies OR equivalent scorecard.
- SRF: Rs. 42,000 + 24% House Rent Allowance (HRA) with a minimum of 2 years of research experience as Junior Research Fellow (JRF) or equivalent.
Upper Age Limit (as on last date of application):
- JRF: Not more than 28 years.
- SRF: Not more than 32 years.
- Age relaxation commensurate with educational qualification(s) and/or experience(s) of the applicant may be considered for candidates having qualification and experience higher than advertised, with the prior approval of the competent authority.
