Job Responsibilities:
Regulatory Compliance:
- Monitor and interpret local, national, and international regulations (FSSAI, USFDA, CODEX, Legal Metrology, CPCB, etc.).
- Ensure effective execution of regulatory change management and due diligence for scientific-regulatory compliance needs covering India, MENA, Philippines, Australia-New Zealand.
- Oversee and ensure compliance with food safety standards of ingredients and recipe compliance as per country regulations.
- Manage the regulatory submission process for new products or formulations.
- Ensure timely renewal, new applications, and modifications of FSSAI licenses for manufacturing, CFA, and 3P manufacturing, as well as plastic waste management registration and Tea Board licenses.
- Ensure timely filing of returns for FSSAI licenses, biannual FSSAI test reports, and PWM EPR compliance.
- Ensure all food products meet safety, health, and quality regulations.
- Ensure compliance of FSSAI licenses for all DBs pan India.
Product Labelling:
- Review and approve product labels to ensure compliance with ingredient, allergen, and nutritional information regulations for the domestic market according to FSSAI and LM requirements, and for exports as per the regulations of the destination country.
- Ensure that packaging and marketing materials meet regulatory requirements per FSSAI, LM, and CPCB, avoiding misleading claims.
Audit & Inspection:
- Lead internal audits to verify recipe and artwork compliance with food safety standards.
- Maintain the accuracy of actual labels through periodic audits or validation of labels, recipes, and regulatory parameters.
Training & Awareness:
- Develop and deliver training programs to employees on regulatory requirements, food safety, and best practices.
- Ensure cross-departmental teams (e.g., production, quality assurance, R&D) are informed of regulatory updates and changes.
Documentation & Reporting:
- Prepare regulatory compliance reports for new suppliers and 3Ps for regulatory compliance management of finished goods.
- Maintain up-to-date records of regulatory approvals, certifications, and compliance documentation.
- Track changes in regulations and communicate the impact of these changes to relevant stakeholders.
- Ensure agreements with all approved labs and other quality control and regulatory external services are in place.
- Provide timely support to stakeholders concerning regulatory and quality documents and queries.
Regulatory Affairs Strategy:
- Collaborate with product development, production, and QA teams to ensure new products comply with regulatory requirements.
- Work with legal and R&D teams to develop regulatory strategies for product innovations or market expansions.
Risk Management:
- Identify potential regulatory risks and develop strategies to mitigate those risks.
- Respond to regulatory inquiries, notices, and manage product recalls, if necessary.
- Represent organizational concerns to authorities by providing feedback on relevant notices/regulations to minimize the impact.
Relationship Management:
- Build and maintain relationships with regulatory authorities, trade associations, and other external stakeholders.
- Stay updated on trends and changes in food regulations by attending conferences, seminars, and training sessions.
- Represent the company in meetings with authorities and industry associations such as FSSAI, LM, CPCB, SPCB, CII, FICCI, and PPWMS.
Plastic Waste Management:
- Collaborate with different departments, teams, and external stakeholders to promote environmental initiatives and ensure compliance with regulations.
- Work with waste management agencies to facilitate registration, collection, and processing of plastic waste as per EPR targets.
- Ensure compliance for the renewal process, return filing, and data upload on the portal.
Qualification:
- B.Tech (Food Tech)
- M.Sc. (Food Tech)
- B.Sc./M.Sc. (Food Science, Chemistry, Life Science)
Experience: 6-7 years in regulatory and compliance, preferably from the food industry.
