The Institute for Stem Cell Science & Regenerative Medicine (www.instem.res.in), Bangalore, is an autonomous institute under the Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India. iBRIC-inStem’s mandate is to establish collaborative research programs in the field of stem cell biology, regeneration, and repair in development and disease, with an emphasis on translation. To develop strengths in focused areas, research at iBRIC-inStem is driven through collaborative interdisciplinary teams, addressing questions that are beyond the scope of a single laboratory.
iBRIC-inStem invites applications (in online mode) from eligible candidates for the post of Project Associate-II in the laboratory of Dr. Diya Binoy Joseph, Scientist-D.
Overview of the lab and PI:
The Institute for Stem Cell Science and Regenerative Medicine (inStem) is a premier research centre located in Bengaluru. Dr. Diya Binoy Joseph is a faculty member in the Centre for Inflammation and Tissue Homeostasis at inStem. Her research focuses on epithelial homeostasis and innate immune defences in the genitourinary tract. Her work utilizes mouse models and tissue culture to understand epithelial-immune interactions in the genitourinary tract.

Qualification & Experience:
Essential Qualification:
- Completed MS/MSc in Life Sciences subjects or MVSc or Bachelor’s degree in engineering or technology (B.Tech.).
- Candidates should have cleared one National level test (CSIR/UGC-JRF, ICMR-JRF, DBT-JRF/GATE-XL/GATE-Biotechnology) with a valid certificate of eligibility OR
- Candidates must have 2 years of post-MSc/MVSc/B.Tech research experience (Master’s thesis work when enrolled for a degree is not counted).
Job Description:
- Project Associate-II will work with the PI on an ongoing project studying epithelial linings of the lower urinary tract.
- Project Associate-II will have the opportunity to work with mouse models, cell culture, and stem cells.
- Project Associate-II will contribute to ongoing studies in the lab and will be included in manuscripts resulting from the work if the contribution is deemed significant to merit this.
Tenure: Contractual appointment for 11 months, renewable based on the requirement and review of progress and requirement of the grant.
