About the team
- The candidate will work in Thermo Fisher Scientific’s Research and Development division, specializing in the cell culture domain.
- The core cell culture team handles primary cells, immortalized cells, and stem cells to deliver high-quality biological samples to internal customers.
Role Overview
- Integral part of an antibody development team, focusing on performance and improving customer outcomes through validation of cell culture workflows, reagents, and consumables.
Responsibilities:
- Aseptic expansion and maintenance of mammalian cancer cell lines, primary cells, and accurate cryopreservation.
- Conduct pharmacological stimulation, inhibition on cell line samples, lysate preparation, buffer/medium preparation for western blot, immunoprecipitation, immunofluorescence, and related tests.
- Daily monitoring of cell health with detailed record-keeping of cell culture parameters and results in data sheets or electronic notebooks.
- Ensure data integrity and accuracy.
- Plan and complete experiments with technical writing responsibilities.
Skills and Experience:
Educational Qualification:
- M.Sc in Cell Biology/Biotechnology, Genetics, or related fields.
- 2-3 years of relevant industry experience (0-3 years of research experience accepted).
Knowledge and Skills:
- Clear understanding of cell biology, protein biology, and molecular biology basics.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
- Strong statistical knowledge and familiarity with statistical software like Prism.
- GLP, GMP, or EHS certification (advantageous).
- Experience in stem cell work (added advantage).
- Publications in peer-reviewed journals (bonus).
- Strong communication skills and meticulous experimental planning.
Preferred Qualities:
- Team player with a willingness to learn new techniques.
- Entrepreneurial thinker.
- Industry experience and strong scientific writing skills are considered a bonus.
Nature of Experience:
- Proficiency in standard laboratory techniques and protocols related to cell biology and molecular biology.
- Familiarity with statistical tools for research analysis.
Skills:
- Confirmed ability to plan experiments and execute them to meet program goals.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written.
- Ability to contribute to research projects with precision and innovative approaches.
