Advertisement inviting applications for the position of Senior Project Associate in DBT/Wellcome Trust India Alliance Funded Project at the Institute of Health Sciences

Applications are invited from motivated and eligible Indian citizens for the position of Senior Project Associate in the DBT/Wellcome Trust India Alliance sponsored research project entitled “Local thyroid hormonal state and early life epigenetic programming of pathological aggressive behavior across generations” under the supervision of Principal Investigator (PI) Dr. Arpita Konar, Assistant Professor, Institute of Health Sciences, Presidency University, Kolkata.
Date, Time and Venue of Interview:
September 24th, 2024, at 11.30 AM, Tower 1, Institute of Health Sciences, Presidency University (2nd Campus), New Town, Kolkata-700156, West Bengal, India. The interview will be conducted in in-person mode. The exact time of the interview schedule will be communicated to the shortlisted candidates.
Application process:
The candidate must email their current CV and details of at least one referee, who can provide feedback on their academic background, to the PI ([email protected]) on or before September 21st, 2024, 5 pm. The candidate must bring a hard copy of their CV on the day of the interview. Only shortlisted candidates will be notified
by email.Essential Qualifications:
a) Master’s Degree in any branch of Life Sciences with four years of research experience from any recognized University/Institute
OR
b) PhD in any branch of Life Sciences from any recognized University/Institute
Desirable qualifications:
a) Research background in molecular biology
b) Experience in brain cell culture and/or mouse handling
Job description: The fellow will contribute to elucidate the role of brain thyroid hormone signalling in early life stress-induced aggressive behaviour using mouse model systems. The fellow will take part in independent planning and execution of experiments and publishing the scientific findings.
Duration of project: Three years.
Tenure of Assignment: 10 months. Can be extended till the duration of the project, subject to satisfactory performance and availability of funds.
Fellowship/Salary: As per DBT norms – 42,000 INR + 27% HRA
Note:
- No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview.

- Original certificates and mark sheets in support of educational qualifications should be produced at the time of joining for verification.
