Job Description
Overview
Main Purpose –
- Drive Food Safety Agenda in the plant & ensure compliance with FSSAI requirements applicable to the industry.
- Ensure that the product is dispatched as per quality norms by administering hold & clear process in plant & 3P, thereby complying with KC 14.
- Support driving Quality & Food safety systems in the plant & NPD and other R&D trials.
Responsibilities
Accountabilities –
- Lead internal/external audits (AIB, FSSC, Personal Hygiene, Process audit, Food Safety) at Plant.
- Drive the food safety agenda by conducting monthly food safety audits & ensuring CAPA closure.
- Ensure hygiene and sanitation standards are maintained in the plant.
- Conduct quarterly internal Food Safety audits along with the QA manager and conduct management review meetings with the Food Safety team to strengthen the systems.
- Ensure compliance with FSSAI licensing, Schedule IV requirements as per PWC checklist.
- Maintain records of customer/consumer complaints. Build awareness, make action plans, and ensure closure of complaints.
- Lead IPM and coordinate with pest control operators to ensure a pest-free plant.
- Partner with HR to provide training to plant staff on food safety, safety, personal hygiene, product & packaging quality as per the training calendar.
- Lead identification and execution of CAPEX for Q&FS requirements.
- Lead the assigned TPM circle & drive agenda as per plan. Participate in TPM activities for increased involvement in the functioning of the plant.
- Conduct regular audits of 3P/CFA to ensure FS and handling process compliances.
- Management Information System – Compile and track key quality performance indicators on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
- Support the Quality manager in implementing best quality systems for the plant.
- Contribute towards developing a quality-focused culture.
- Contribute towards the effectiveness of the Quality team by providing data points.
- Implement change initiatives and support continuous improvement in the department.
- Support the Agro manager in the Potato management process through daily analysis of potato availability as per specs & potato planning for production and monthly audits of potato 3P to ensure storage & testing as per PepsiCo standards.
- Coordinate with manufacturing for IPS audits & support the closure of action points.

- Volume, NE & TE as per Pune COSO AOP.
- Budget – QC AOP for Pune, CAPEX for Q&FS.
- Total Manpower: Operatives & contractual.
- Geography: Pune snacks plant, 3P WH, CFA.
- AIB, Personal Hygiene, IPM audit, Food Safety.
Qualifications
Key Skills/Experience Required –
- Experience working in Quality Control/Assurance in food manufacturing units.
- Experience preparing and implementing HACCP, FSSC, AIB in a food processing facility.
- B.Tech in Food Tech/ENGG, Postgraduate in Food tech, MSc Microbiology, B. Tech in Dairy.
Main Interactions Within & Outside Organization / External & Internal Environmental Factors –
- Interaction with cross-functional teams covering HR, Production, Agro, Maintenance, Commercial at different intervals based on function requirements at the plant level.
- Interaction with Purchase, CQA, R&D at the corporate level.
- Interaction with Incoming material vendors.
- Pest control agency.
- Certification Body.
- FSSAI officials.
