The candidates fulfilling the requirements as per the essential qualifications may attend the Walk-In Interviews as per the date mentioned below. All should report at 09:30 am sharp at the address given below, and those candidates appearing for the interview should register their names in the register kept at the Security Gate.

The National Centre for Cell Science (NCCS) is an autonomous institution of the Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India, with a mandate for basic research, teaching & training, and serving as a national repository for cell lines/hybridomas, etc. The Centre is located in the academically enriched environment of Savitribai Phule Pune University Campus, Pune. NCCS invites applications for the following posts on various extramural projects purely on a temporary basis.

Name of the Project: JC Bose Fellowship
Name of the PI: Dr. Shekhar Mande
Essential Qualification & Experience:
(i) Doctoral Degree in Science or Master’s Degree in Engineering or Technology from a recognized University or equivalent; and
(ii) Three years’ experience in Research and Development in Industrial and Academic Institutions or Science and Technology Organizations and Scientific activities and services.
Desirable Experience: Proficiency in X-ray Crystallography / CryoEM single particle analysis.
Project Tenure: Up to 24/09/2024, Further extension awaited.
Total Monthly Emoluments: Rs. 67,000/- + HRA

Name of the Project: Identifying the role of host F-box proteins, a component of E3 ubiquitin ligase complex, in HIV-1 pathogenesis and their potential use as therapeutic targets against the virus.
Name of the PI: Dr. Debashis Mitra
Essential Qualification & Experience: Post Graduate Degree in Basic Science or Graduate / Post Graduate Degree in Professional Course selected through a process described through any one of the following & should have 2 years of research experience.
A. Scholars who are selected through National Eligibility Tests – CSIR-UGC NET including lectureship (Assistant Professorship) and/or GATE.
B. The selection process through National Level examinations conducted by Central Government Departments and their Agencies and Institutions such as DST, DBT, DAE, DOS, DRDO, MoE, ICAR, ICMR, IIT, IISc, IISER, NISER, etc.
Desirable Experience: 2 Years research experience as JRF in Mammalian Cell Culture, Molecular Biology, and Virology will be necessary for the execution of the project and thus will be preferred.
Project Tenure: Up to 09/06/2027
Total Monthly Emoluments: Rs. 42,000/- + HRA

Name of the Project: Generation of novel high-affinity human monoclonal antibody cocktail against Rabies virus for efficacious post-exposure prophylaxis.
Name of the PI: Dr. Akanksha Chaturvedi
Essential Qualification & Experience: Master’s Degree in Natural or Agricultural Sciences / MVSc or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology or Medicine from a recognized University or equivalent; And 2 years’ experience in Research and Development in Industrial and Academic Institutions or Science and Technology Organisations and Scientific activities and services.
Desirable Experience: Experience in antibody cloning, molecular biology techniques, protein & antibody expression, PBMC isolation, ELISA, neutralization assays, SPR is needed.
Project Tenure: Up to 31/08/2025
Total Monthly Emoluments:
(i) Rs. 35,000/- + HRA to Scholars who are selected through
(a) National Eligibility Tests – CSIR-UGC NET including lectureship (Assistant Professorship) or
(b) A selection process through National level examinations conducted by Central Government Departments and their Agencies and Institutions.
(ii) Rs. 28,000/- + HRA for others who do not fall under (i) above.

Advertisement Position: Junior Research Fellow (JRF)
Project Title: Investigating the role of clathrin light chain in neural development and function.
Department: Department of Biotechnology
Project Tenure: 3 Years
Job Description: The JRF will be responsible for Drosophila melanogaster stocks maintenance, setting up crosses, dissections, behavioral analysis, image and video analysis, and molecular biology associated with the project. Experience with Drosophila genetics, setting up crosses, dissection, immunocytochemistry, confocal imaging, image analysis, data analysis, molecular biology, cloning.
Essential Qualification: B.S. 4 years program / BPharm / MBBS / Integrated BS-MS / MSc / BE / BTech or equivalent degree, with 55% marks and passing of NET/GATE test.
Age Limit: 28 years.
Age Relaxation: The upper age limit is relaxable up to 5 years in the case of candidates belonging to scheduled castes/tribes/OBC, women, and physically handicapped candidates.
Fellowship: Rs. 37,000/- + HRA in First & Second years, Rs. 42,000/- + HRA in 3rd year upon upgradation.

Advertisement Position: Junior Research Fellow (JRF)
Project Title: Molecular and functional studies on LNCRNA-Guided regulation of replication stress response and genome integrity in mammalian cells.
Department: Department of Biotechnology
Project Tenure: 3 Years
Job Description: The candidate will take lead on the execution of the project and report to the PI with research updates in a timely manner. In brief, the candidate will be handling mammalian cell culture; performing molecular biology & cell biology assays, routine lab work; reading relevant literature and participating in lab seminars and work presentations. The candidate will also prepare timely progress reports of the project and write manuscripts as and when required. The candidate having prior experience of mammalian cell culture, molecular biology, and of RNA related lab techniques is preferable.

Post Graduate Degree in Basic Science or Graduate / Post Graduate Degree in Professional Course selected through a process described through any one of the following
A. Scholars who are selected through National Eligibility Tests – CSIR-UGC NET including lectureship (Assistant Professorship) and/or GATE.
B. The selection process through National Level examinations conducted by Central Government Departments and their Agencies and Institutions such as DST, DBT, DAE, DOS, DRDO, MoE, ICAR, ICMR, IIT, IISc, IISER, NISER, etc.
Desirable Experience: 1 – 3 years’ experience in the field of Chemistry / Chemical Science / Pharmaceutical Chemistry / Medicinal Chemistry and related fields with proficiency in Organic synthesis / Column chromatography / HPLC. 1-3 years of experience in drug discovery field either in academic institute / industry (CRO or R&D) with experience in NMR and Mass data analysis. In addition, prior experience in various biophysical experiments (e.g., SPR, CD, UV, FL, etc.) will be given preference.

A. Scholars who are selected through National Eligibility Tests – CSIR-UGC NET including lectureship (Assistant Professorship) and/or GATE.
B. The selection process through National Level examinations conducted by Central Government Departments and their Agencies and Institutions such as DST, DBT, DAE, DOS, DRDO, MoE, ICAR, ICMR, IIT, IISc, IISER, NISER, etc.
Desirable Experience: Candidate should have some experience with the following techniques:
• Cell culture handling and subcellular fractionation of organelles
• HPLC, protein purification using Affinity & gel-exclusion chromatography
• In-vivo and In-vitro protein-protein interaction and western blotting
• Confocal microscopy, Gene cloning and RT-PCR

Desirable Experience: 1-3 years’ experience in Biological Sciences. Proficient in cell-based assays such as qRT-PCR, Western blot, gel electrophoresis, transfection, and transduction (including preparation and characterization of stably expressed cell lines using qRT-PCR and fluorescence microscopy). Skilled in plasmid construct preparation, clone selection, and data processing, analysis, and plotting.
Project Tenure: Up to 14/03/2029
Total Monthly Emoluments: Rs. 20,000/- + HRA
