Advertisement for Position of Project Assistant in DST-SERB Funded Research Project at the Department Of Life Sciences

A walk-in interview will be conducted on 20.06.2024 for the position of Project Assistant in DST-SERB funded research project entitled “Investigating role of endogenous DNA gyrase inhibitor YacG in bacterial stress response” at the laboratory of Dr. Sugopa Sengupta, Department of Life Sciences (Molecular Biology Section), Presidency University, Kolkata. Applications are invited for the same.
Application process: Interested and eligible candidates should send complete curriculum vitae including e-mail ID, mobile number, date of birth, and details of qualifications i.e. examination passed, year, division, percentage of marks from Secondary onwards, Score in NET and GATE, details of research experience/accomplishments, project report (if any), with a latest passport size photograph along with scanned copies of all relevant documents (by preparing a one pdf file) to [email protected] latest by 18th June, 2024.

19th June, 2024.Eligibility Criteria: i) M.Sc or equivalent in any discipline of Life Sciences (Microbiology/ Molecular Biology/ Genetics/Biotechnology/Botany/Zoology/Physiology etc.) with at least 60% marks ii) Candidates who have qualified CSIR-UGC NET (LS) and GATE would be highly preferred for the position
Desirable Skills/ Qualities: (i) Prior experience in microbiology assays including MIC/MBC determination. (ii) Prior research experience in conducting toxicological assays (iii) Prior research experience in molecular biology/recombinant DNA technology related tools and techniques (iv) Sound knowledge of MS Office and other basic computer operations. (v) Commitment and Perseverance to excel in the field of research.
Duration of project: Three years or duration of the project (subject to satisfactory performance and availability of funds)
Amount of Fellowship: Rs. 25,600/- per month (consolidated)
Ph.D Enrollment: The selected candidate may be allowed to enrol for the Ph.D. program as per university rules and subject to satisfactory performance.
Terms and conditions:
- All the terms & conditions for this recruitment will be as per the guidelines of the DST-SERB and Presidency University Kolkata.
- The above position is purely contractual and is for the duration of the project only. Selected candidates will not be entitled to claim any regular appointments/absorption in this institute.
- No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview.
- Candidates will not be entertained after said interview slot, except in case of any exigency the decision of the selection committee will be final and binding on the candidates.
