About the job
We are looking for a Research Associate/ Senior Research Associate who will join our Yeast Molecular Biology/Strain Engineering team. We are a team of interdisciplinary people with a background ranging from business to research and food science with an ambition to create a better world through sustainable food production system using cellular agriculture. The ideal candidate should share our vision and values as energetic, creative as well as self-driven with an entrepreneurial mindset.
What will you do?
- Use modern molecular biological techniques to create strains for the expression of different proteins in different host systems.
- Take an active role in design of experiments and test hypotheses in collaboration.
- Perform high-throughput screening to identify clones with high protein expression levels and yields.
- Perform genomic analysis of transformants.
- Identify and apply new molecular tools for strain development.
- Design, perform and analyse experiments independently.
- Collaborate with members of other departments, e.g. Fermentation, DSP and Food Formulation team, to improve protein expression strains for optimal protein functionality.
- To maintain timely documentation of research and product development work.
What makes you a great match for us?
- Master’s degree in Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Synthetic Biology, Microbiology, Biochemistry or related discipline with 2-3 years of experience.
- Strong background in DNA cloning techniques and strain engineering.
- Experience with protein expression in Yeast eukaryotic hosts.
- Eager to develop new strategies for strain development and to collaborate with other team members as well as external collaboration partners.
- Knowledge of protein fermentation process and protein analysis methods is preferred.
- Hands-on mentality with I can-do attitude.
- Passionate about food, health, sustainability and climate goals.
