CDFD, an Institute of the Biotechnology Research and Innovation Council, Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India, invites applications from Indian nationals for the following purely temporary vacancies in the research project entitled “Decoding the Intricacies of Iron Homeostasis and Regulation in Bacterial Plant Pathogens Xanthomonas: Unravelling Mechanisms for Enhanced Understanding” funded by DBT and other projects sanctioned to CDFD. The description of the positions, qualifications, and nature of duties for each position is as follows:

Post I

Name of the Post: Junior Research Fellow

Age Limit: 35 Years

Emoluments: Rs. 37,000/- pm + 27% HRA for the 1st and 2nd year and Rs. 42,000/- pm + 27% HRA for the 3rd year SRF.

Essential Qualifications: Postgraduate degree in basic or life science.

Desirable Qualifications: Experience in molecular biology, molecular microbiology.

Nature of Duty: The project associate/Project JRF will be involved in day-to-day lab experiments including cloning, sequencing, constructs for protein-protein interaction, isolation of DNA and RNA, growth assay, and biochemical enzymatic assay. They will work on experiments related to Quorum sensing biosensor, iron homeostasis, and interaction of two-component signal transduction systems, and characterization of the stationary phase. They will collect data, compile, and prepare figures and data presentation.

Post II

Name of the Post: Research Associate – I

Age Limit: 35 Years

Emoluments: Rs. 58,000/- pm + 27% HRA.

Essential Qualifications: PhD/MD/MS/MDS or equivalent degree or having 3 years of research, teaching, and design and development experience after MVSc/M. Pharm/ME/M.Tech with at least one research paper.

Desirable Qualifications: Experience in molecular biology, molecular microbiology, experimental experience in molecular microbiology, Chip-Seq, RNA-Seq, protein interaction, microscopy, biochemical, and molecular biology methods.

Nature of Duty: The RA will execute the critical part of the project including molecular biology experiments, microscopy, and particularly will be involved in the transcriptome and protein-protein interaction work. They will also coordinate and analyze the NGS data obtained from the RNA-Seq, Chip-Seq, and protein-protein interaction. In addition, they will be involved in preparing data, reports, and figures. The RA will also be involved in protein assay, binding studies, and other interactions.

GENERAL TERMS AND CONDITIONS

1. The vacancies against the positions shall be filled based on the vacancies available at the time of selection. If more vacancies with identical job requirements become available within one year after the selection, these can also be filled from among the candidates who are empaneled for the above positions.
2. Depending on the qualifications, experience, and recommendations of the Selection Committee, the selected candidates may be placed in a scale and designation lower than the grade advertised/applied against. Emoluments of the candidates selected against the positions may vary depending upon the qualifications, experience, recommendations of the Selection Committee, or emoluments sanctioned by the funding agency in the project.
3. Candidates selected against the positions will be expected to carry out research in the areas of Biochemistry, Cell Biology, Computational and Structural Biology, Genetics, Immunology, Microbiology, or Molecular Biology.
4. Selection against the positions will not make the candidates with Master’s Degree eligible to register for a Ph.D. degree.
5. All these positions are purely temporary and are initially for a period of six months or one year. These positions could be extended/terminated depending on the continuation of the project(s).
6. Reservation for SC/ST/OBC/Physically Handicapped/Ex-service person/EWS applicants will be as per Govt. of India rules.
7. Relaxation of age for SC/ST/OBC/Physically Handicapped/Ex-service person/Female applicants will be as per Govt. of India rules.
8. Mere fulfilling the minimum qualifications will not entitle the candidate for being called for an interview. The applications will be screened by a committee based on research experience and the requirement of each project. Only those candidates who are found suitable will be shortlisted to be interviewed through Video Conference. The decision of the Director, CDFD, will be final in this respect and no correspondence will be entertained in this regard.
9. Any of the selected individuals may from time to time be assigned to perform any other duties commensurate with their qualifications by the Director, CDFD.
