Applications are invited from talented and motivated candidates to work on the following project:

Project Title: “Electrochemical-based Eco-friendly Recovery of Bioactive Compounds and Polymers from Seaweeds” (Project No. FTT020511)

Name of the Post: Project Associate-I (1 position)

Nature of Work: Seaweed collection and cultivation

Essential Qualification: M.Sc. in Biotechnology, Microbiology, Marine Science, Marine Biology, Oceanography, Oceanography and Coastal Area Studies, Botany, Plant Biology, or Plant Biotechnology.

Desirable Qualification: Experience in seaweed collection and cultivation.

Monthly Remuneration:

  • Option (i): Rs. 31,000/- + HRA for M.Sc. scholars who have been selected through either:
    National eligibility tests (CSIR-UGC NET including lectureship/Assistant Professorship or GATE) or
    A selection process through national-level examinations conducted by central government departments, agencies, and institutions.
  • Option (ii): Rs. 25,000/- + HRA for candidates who do not fall under option (i).

Age Limit: 35 years (Relaxation in age as per CSIR norms).

Interested candidates meeting the above requirements may send their applications along with self-attested copies of all supporting documents by post/courier/hand to Dr. V. Veeragurunathan, Scientist-in-charge, Marine Algal Research Station, CSIR-CSMCRI, Mandapam Camp – 623 519, Tamil Nadu, on or before 07.05.2024.

Applicants currently working as a Project Assistant, Field Assistant, Research Scholar, or in any other role in CSIR institutions or other government organizations must submit a No Objection Certificate from their present Project Leader or competent authority on official letterhead with a seal. Candidates applying without the knowledge of their Project Leader or Competent Authority will be wholly responsible for any inquiries, and CSIR-CSMCRI and MARS Mandapam will not be responsible.

The interview will be conducted in person at the Marine Algal Research Station, CSIR-CSMCRI, Mandapam Camp – 623 519, Tamil Nadu, for shortlisted candidates. No TA/DA will be provided for attending the interview. Shortlisted candidates will be notified by email on 08.05.2024.

Applicants should follow the instructions in the application form, as failure to do so will result in application rejection.

Duration: This post is purely temporary and co-terminus with the project. The engagement of project staff in various projects at the CSIR-Central Salt & Marine Chemicals Research Institute, Bhavnagar, or different CSIR laboratories/institutes combined shall not exceed five years in total. Therefore, the position does not confer any right or claim, implicit or explicit, for extension or absorption in CSIR-CSMCRI, Bhavnagar.
