Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council (BIRAC) is a not-for-profit Section 8, Schedule B, Public Sector Enterprise, under Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Government of India as an Interface Agency to strengthen and empower the emerging Biotech enterprise to undertake strategic research and innovation, addressing nationally relevant product development needs.

BIRAC is inviting applications from qualified, experienced and ambitious professionals for the following position:

Position: Associate Consultant-IP
Number of Positions: One (01)
Position Code: CON-38
Consolidated Fee: The consolidated fee for Associate Consultant shall be Rs. 75,000/- per month
.Duration: The engagement is contractual initially for a period of one year which is extendable based on performance and organizational priorities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct IP searches and Analysis – patentability/FTO/ Patent Landscape by using IP
search tools/databases and scientific information resources, including sequence and chemical structure searching. - Working knowledge of Patent searches, analysis & technology mapping.
- Carry out aspects of IP Management including examination and drafting and coordination with empaneled Law Firms for patent drafting and prosecution of patent applications at different jurisdiction.
- Render services for implementation of BIRAC’s PATH (Patenting & Technology Transfer for Harnessing Innovations) Scheme.
- Assist in referred matters related to protection of plant varieties, written representations before the IPO, Appellate Board in India, miscellaneous actions under the relevant act and any other proceeding in India.
- Provide opinion / advice on any other matters related to IP.
- Undertake any other tasks in furtherance to the fulfilment of her responsibilities.
- Protect the secrecy of and avoid disclosure and unauthorized use of the Confidential Information in any forum which includes formal and informal discussion/lectures/ publications etc.
Qualification:
- MSc / M Tech in life sciences/ Bio Technology/Pharma/ Agri / Plant sciences
from a recognized and reputed institute. - Registered Indian Patent Agent.
Experience: Post Qualification between 3 years to 10 years with minimum 2 years of experience in managing national and / or international fellowship/grant/award, social enterprise, nonprofits or impact driven organizations.
Desirable Skills:
- Demonstrated writing & oral communication skills in English.
- Demonstrated experience in managing grant programs, including grant proposal review, grantee selection, project monitoring and evaluation.
- Strong understanding of social innovation concepts and approaches.
- Excellent project management skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks, manage timelines, and meet deadlines.
Age Limit: Maximum 45 years as on closing date of vacancy.
