DST SERB funded project “Morphological and Molecular Taxonomy of family Thripidae (Terebrantia: Thysanoptera) from India” 

Interested and eligible candidates are requested to appear before the selection committee on 22nd March 2024 at 11:00 AM for the posts of Senior research Fellow (01) and Field Assistant (01) in the Project “Morphological and Molecular Taxonomy of family Thripidae (Terebrantia: Thysanoptera) from India” funded by SERB, DST, Govt. of India, New Delhi in ZSI at the Zoological Survey of India, Head Qtrs., ‘M’ Block, New Alipore, Kolkata-700053, West Bengal, India.

Senior Research Fellow

Name of the Post and Emoluments: Senior Research Fellow (One position)

Remuneration: Rs. 35,000/- + admissible HRA for NET/GATE/any national level examination qualified candidates or Rs. 23,000/- + admissible HRA for othe

Educational Qualification: M. Sc. in Zoology/any branch of Life Sciences or equivalent with a minimum of 60% aggregate marks from a recognized University with two years of research experience

Age: Up to 30 years

Desirable Qualifications:

1. Experience on Taxonomy of insects
2. DNA Barcoding
3. Mitogenomics
4. NGS data handling

Field Assistant

Name of the Post and Emoluments: Field Assistant (One position)

Remuneration: Rs. 20,000/- + Admissible HRA

Essential Qualifications: Bachelor degree in any branch of Life Sciences (Zoology, etc.) from a recognized university

Desirable Qualifications: Basic knowledge about handling field surveys, insect collection, DNA extraction, knowledge of Computer, and basic field data collection

Duration: Initially up to one year, may be extended based on satisfactory performance

Date & Place of Interview: 22-03-2024 at 11:00 AM at Zoological Survey of India, ‘M’ Block, New Alipore, Kolkata-700053

General Instructions:

1. The above posts are purely temporary and co-terminus with the project.
2. The upper age limit is as on the date of interview. The age limit may be relaxed in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC/women (as per GoI rules).
3. Candidates appearing for the walk-in-interview are required to register from 9:45 AM-12:15 PM on the day of interview at Zoological Survey of India, ‘M’ Block, New Alipore, Kolkata-700053. Candidates should bring the duly filled-in application with attested true copies of testimonials of qualifications, experience, date of birth etc. along with copies of mark sheets of all examinations. All original documents should be produced at the time of registration 
4. The offer of appointment to the candidates will be on purely contractual basis for one year initially and it may be extended for further period(s) based on further project extension and satisfactory performance of the candidate.
5. The selected candidates need to join immediately or at a short notice.
6. No TA/DA will be provided to the candidates for appearing for the interview.

8. The Director, Zoological Survey of India reserves the right to selection or rejection of any candidature and cancellation of the walk-in-interview.
