NOTIFICATION FOR THE RECRUITMENT OF PROJECT ASSOCIATE
Applications are invited for the post of Project Associate (PA) to work on a research project entitled ‘Development of a novel electrochemical sensor to detect biofilm and MIC and assess biocide treatment efficacy in near-real time oil and gas pipelines‘ (Ref. No: SPG/2022/00172) under the Principal Investigator Dr. SUDHA UTHAMAN, Assistant Professor (Research), Centre for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology, Jeppiaar Nagar, Chennai – 600119, Tamilnadu, India. The project is funded under the Promoting opportunities for women in exploratory research (POWER) scheme by the Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB), Department of Science and Technology, Government of India.
Essential qualification
- Highly motivated candidates who have a first-class M.Sc. degree in Biotechnology/ Microbiology/any branch of Life Sciences or M. Tech in Biotechnology/Microbiology/any branch of Life Sciences or equivalent.
Desirable qualification(s)
- Background in electrochemical sensors and its applications and microbial corrosion
- Strong knowledge of electrochemical and microbial corrosion is positively evaluated.
- Prior research experience in the field of microbial interaction, oil and gas pipeline corrosion and fabrication of electrochemical sensor is an asset.
Emoluments: 25,000/- per month + 24% HRA as per SERB norms
Total duration: 36 months
Age*: 28 years
Job description: The PA is expected to carry out the laboratory research activities including fabrication of electrochemical sensor, assessment of sensor against MIC and real time analysis of newly developed sensor in oil and gas pipeline systems.

Mode of selection
Shortlisted candidates will be called for the interview and NO travel allowances (TA) and Dearness Allowance (DA) will be provided.
❖ The Institute will support all the basic research facilities.
❖ The position is purely temporary basis and co-terminus with the project tenure.
❖ The successful PA is encouraged to register Ph.D. degree at the Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology.
