Recruitment of JUNIOR RESEARCH FELLOW (JRF)
Applications are invited from Indian National for the appointment of one (01) Junior Research Fellow (JRF) in Zoological Survey of India on a temporary basis for a period of three years under the DSTSERB sponsored project “What causes critically low numbers of White-bellied Heron: changes in habitat characteristics and/or associated evolutionary traits?”.
Position: Junior Research Fellow (JRF)
Educational Qualification:
- M.Sc. in Zoology/Ecology and Environmental Science/Wildlife Science with a minimum of 60% aggregate marks from a recognised university
- CSIR-UGC NET qualification
Age Limit:
- Upper age limit: 28 years as on 25 December 2023
- Relaxation of up to five years for SC, ST & OBC candidates
Fellowship:
- First two years: Rs. 37,000/- per month plus HRA
- Third year (SRF): Rs. 42,000/- per month plus HRA
- In case of non-CSIR-UGC NET qualified candidate, the fellowship will be as per ZSI norms

- Place of research and posting will be in any Protected Area in Arunachal Pradesh.
- The position is purely temporary for three years and will be terminated upon completion of the project.
- Candidates will be shortlisted based on their qualifications, experience, knowledge of data analyses, and use of software.
- Shortlisted candidates will be informed through e-mail for interview selection.
- No travel allowance will be provided for interviews in Kolkata. Virtual interviews may be conducted if necessary.
- The Director, Zoological Survey of India, reserves the right to select or reject candidates and cancel the advertisement.

Along with the application, attested copies of educational qualifications, research experience, proof of date of birth, mark sheets of all examinations, and a ‘No Objection Certificate’ from the current employer (if employed) should be submitted. Hard copies of the application should be sent by Speed-post/Registered Post to the Director, Zoological Survey of India, M-Block, New Alipore, Kolkata-700053, by 15 January 2024. Please mention the short title of the project, “White-bellied Heron Project, Arunachal Pradesh”, on top of the envelope for easy segregation.
