Junior Research Fellow
The Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), Manipal is inviting applications for the position of Junior Research Fellow. MAHE is a renowned educational institution known for its excellence in the field of biotechnology and life sciences research.
Job Description
The Junior Research Fellow will be working under the DBT funded research project titled “Transcriptional and behavioral mechanisms underlying social isolation stress in Drosophila.” The role will be based in the laboratory of Dr. Pavan Agrawal at the Centre for Molecular Neurosciences, KMC, Manipal. The project aims to gain fundamental insights about brain function using cutting-edge machine vision and machine learning pipelines, genomics, and Drosophila biology. The candidate will also be responsible for supporting the daily operations of the laboratory and will receive appropriate training.
Eligibility & Desired Qualifications
- Minimum qualification: Master’s in engineering, Biotechnology, or Life Sciences focused on computational biology from a recognized university.
- Candidates with UGC-CSIR/NET/GATE/DBTBET/ICMR/other national exam qualifications will be preferred.
- Coding skills including either R/Python/MATLAB are mandatory. Demonstrable hardware skills such as the ability to build Raspberry Pi or Arduino projects, electronic circuit boards, 3D printing, and handling machine vision pipelines would be a plus.
- Candidates with prior experience in Machine vision, Bioinformatics, or Bioengineering will be preferred.
- The candidate needs to be highly motivated, a self-starter, and a team player who can work in a highly collaborative and interdisciplinary environment including neuroscience researchers, clinicians, and engineers.
- The candidate should be highly organized and be able to manage multiple priorities. Other duties as assigned.
Remuneration
As per DBT norms. For CSIR-UGC-NET/GATE/national entrance exams qualified candidates: Rs. 37,000 + 8% HRA. For other candidates: as per DBT norms.
Joining Date
December 16th, 2023 onwards.
Duration
Up to September 2024 (extension based on project requirement & performance).
