Role Description:
This is a full-time on-site role for a Microbiologist. If you’re someone who is passionate about mycology and has worked with fungi previously we would love to have you (not necessarily trained as a microbiologist). If you’re passionate about nature, microbiology (fungi specifically) love to experiment, and thrive in an innovative environment to make a real impact, we would love to have you. We’re looking for a Microbiologist to join our team and be a crucial part of our quest to revolutionize the mushroom industry. And, long term, we want someone who can grow with us, as an organisation.
Key Responsibilities:
Quality Control: Implement and maintain strict quality control measures to meet regulatory and industry standards, ensuring the safety and quality of our mushroom products
.Laminar Air Flow (LAF) Work: Operate and maintain LAF equipment for sterile laboratory work, and inoculations, including the preparation of agar plates and sample analysis.
Data Analysis: Collect, analyze, and interpret microbiological data, providing valuable insights and recommendations for process optimization.
Research and Development: Collaborate with the research and development team to explore innovative techniques and technologies for improved mushroom cultivation and product quality.
Documentation: Maintain accurate records of all production-related tasks, procedures, and results in accordance with company protocols.
Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant industry regulations and safety standards.
Team Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams to address microbial-related challenges and provide expertise in troubleshooting.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology, Biotechnology, Food Technology, or a related field. (does not apply if you have worked with mushrooms/fungi previously)
- Strong ethics and value system.
- Ability to work in an environment of constant learning.
- Strong knowledge of microbiological techniques, aseptic practices, and laboratory safety protocols.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Proficient in data analysis and reporting.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to adapt to a fast-paced, team-oriented work environment.
