Applications are invited from Indian Citizens for one position of Project Associate – I in a SERB funded research project entitled “Molecular characterization of the cytopathic property of Chandipura virus to engineer an attenuated oncolytic vector” in the Laboratory of Dr. John B. Johnson at Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology, Thiruvananthapuram.

Age : Below 28 years as on September 14, 2023. Age relaxation will be given as per Govt. of India norms.

Duration : Initially for a period of one year and extendable till termination of the project based on performance evaluation.

Selection Process :

  1. Applications should be submitted online.
  2. Candidates who are currently working in Government firms should send applications through proper channel.
  3. Last date for receiving completed applications is September 14, 2023
  4. If a candidate wishes to apply for different positions, separate applications should be submitted for each position. Selection to the position will not entitle the candidate to any future positions at RGCB (permanent or otherwise). As with all project positions at RGCB, the position will be co terminus with end of the project.

Applications which are not in the prescribed format will summarily be rejected.

Only those fulfilling the above criteria need apply and will be called for interview. No TA/ DA will be given for appearing in the interview. Selection of suitable candidates will be made based on qualifications and performance in the selection interview.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Good Academic record with First Class Master’s Degree in Life Sciences.
  • The candidate should preferably have a minimum of two-year documented experience in mammalian cell culture or handling laboratory animals and an in-depth knowledge in virology.
  • Experience in experimental virology (virus culture, titration, in vivo challenge) and pathology although not mandatory would be preferred.

Desirable Qualification: The Candidate should have qualified National Eligibility Test-CSIR-UGC-NET/LS or GATE or DBT-BET/ ICMR/DST-Inspire Fellowship/JEST/JGEEBILS.

Emolument : ₹ 31,000/- + 16% HRA per month for candidates having both essential and desirable qualifications and ₹ 25,000/- + 16% HRA for those who have essential qualifications (as per SERB norms) only.
