NTA invites Online Applications for Ph.D. Entrance Test for DU, JNU, BHU and BBAU – 2023
The National Testing Agency (NTA) has been entrusted with the task of conducting Ph.D. Entrance Test for DU, JNU, BHU, and BBAU – 2023.
National Testing Agency (NTA) will be conducted the Ph.D. Entrance Test 2023 in 97 Cities across India in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode for the Academic Session 2023-24 as per the schedule given below:

Information about the eligibility, scheme of the exam, exam centers, exam timings, exam fee, the procedure for applying, etc. are contained in the Information Bulletin hosted on the website of NTA https://phd-entrance.samarth.ac.in/
Medium of Examination:
- Subjects in the Common Section, Commerce/Finance, Art and Culture, and Humanities
would be Bilingual i.e., in English and Hindi both. - Science Subjects would be in English only.
- Languages tests would be in their respective Languages except for Linguistics, Modern
Indian Language, and Literary Studies. These two subjects would be in English
Broad features of Ph.D. Entrance Test 2023 is as follows:
Subject combinations for each paper, type of questions in each paper, and mode of examination are given in the table below:
i. There are about 100 subjects.
ii. The Question paper will have two Sections.
iii. Section 1- Research Methodology and Section 2- Subject-specific.
iv. Each Question paper will have 100 MCQ Questions in English only except Languages.
v. All Questions are Compulsory.
vi. Duration of Examination – 3 Hours (180 min.)
vii. A Candidate can choose a maximum of three courses, subject to one course in a slot as
per the timetable.
viii. Reservation Policy as applicable in the Participating Universities would be followed.
The candidates are requested to carefully read the Reservation Policy mentioned in the
Prospectus of the Universities which would be available on the respective University
Website.
ix. No Negative Marking would be done.
x. The revised Timetable is placed in the Annexure as per the request of all stakeholders.
xi. The candidates who have already applied can change the subjects during the correction
window.
Important Instructions:
- Candidates must carefully read the Instructions (including how to fill up the Application
Form online) given in the Information Bulletin available on the NTA Website.
Candidates not complying with the instructions shall be summarily disqualified. - Candidates should apply for Ph.D. Entrance Test 2023 through the “Online” mode
only. The Application Form in any other mode will not be accepted. - Submission of the Application Form could be made by the candidate online through the NTA website: https://phd-entrance.samarth.ac.in/
- Instructions for filling the Online Application Form:
♦ Before starting to fill the application form candidates are advised to read the
Information Bulletin and Corrigendum dated:11 August 2023 displayed on the
website of the NTA /University / Institution / Government College where admission
is sought and be clear about the courses offered by them, seats available, eligibility
as regards age, passing/appearing in qualifying exam, minimum marks in the
qualifying exam, relaxation thereof, reservation, admission procedure, etc before
applying for the Ph.D. Entrance Test 2023, as Universities have their own specific
requirements for admission to specified courses (discipline/stage). NTA will not
entertain the corrections sent by the candidate through Post/Fax/WhatsApp/Email/by Hand.
