Walk-in Interview for RA-I Position

Institute of Life Sciences (ILS), Bhubaneswar, an autonomous institute of the Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India invites applications from Indian Nationals to join in the following project positions.

Post I

Name of position: Research Associate-I (01 position)

Project: DBT project entitled “Technological innovations for development of functional foods from ethnic fermented foods of the Indian Himalayas” under Himalayan Bioresource Mission

Fellowship: Rs. 47,000/- + @16% HRA

Post II

Name of position: Research Associate-I (01 position)

Project: SERB

project entitled “Screening and identification of efflux pump inhibitors to combat antibacterial resistance in multi drug resistant S. aureus”

Fellowship: Rs. 47,000/- + @16% HRA

Eligibility:

Ph.D. in any branch of Life Sciences, Microbiology, Biochemistry & Molecular Biology having at least one first author and one co-authored peer reviewed research articles in any science citation indexed journals. Candidates having expertise in Bacterial genetics, who have performed gene deletion or gene mutation in bacterial genome and/or worked with animal bacterial infection model will be preferred. Candidates who have submitted Ph.D. thesis and are waiting for viva voce may also apply. For such candidates, the fellowship amount will be that of a SRF until he/she defends Ph.D. thesis.

Incomplete applications and applications submitted without the above-mentioned documents will be rejected.
  • The candidate will not have any right to claim explicit or implicit any post in the institute. No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview. The decision of the Director, ILS regarding selection of candidates will be final and no further correspondence will be entertained in this regard.

This expertise has enabled me to contribute meaningfully to the understanding of bacterial infections.
  4. Question: How have you applied your research skills to address challenges related to antibacterial resistance in multi drug resistant S. aureus, as described in the project description? Answer: In my previous research, I have focused on antibacterial resistance mechanisms in multi drug resistant S. aureus. I have identified potential efflux pump inhibitors through comprehensive screenings and subsequently validated their efficacy in combatting antibiotic resistance. My work aligns well with the goals of the project and demonstrates my commitment to addressing pressing issues in bacterial resistance.
  5. Question: Could you share your experience in collaborative research environments and how you have contributed to team-based projects in the past? Answer: Certainly, I have actively engaged in collaborative research environments throughout my academic and professional journey. I have been a key member of interdisciplinary teams where I have contributed my expertise in microbiology and molecular biology to address complex research questions. My ability to communicate effectively and synergize efforts within diverse teams has resulted in successful project outcomes.
