Post I

Job Position: Junior Research Fellow

No. of Post: 01

Name of the Project: Characterization and popularization of Spirulina biomass cultivation as viable product and commercial exploitation of Spirulina biomass towards product development (PC: 28-19)

Emoluments (Fixed per month): Rs.31,000+ 24% HRA per month for first two years and Rs. 35,000.00 + 24% HRA for 3rd year

Educational Qualification: Master’s degree in Microbiology/ Biotechnology or M. Tech Biotechnology having a minimum of 60% marks with 4 or 5 years of Bachelor’s degree or candidates having Post Graduate degree in Basic Science with 3 years Bachelor’s degree and

2 years Master’s degree, should have qualified UGC/CSIR/ICAR-NET/GATE or Ph.D. in relevant discipline as above.

Desirable: Experience of working with cyanobacteria and microalgae, cultivation and biochemical characterization with proficiency in computer skills.

Post II (a)

Job Position: Project Associate-II

No. of Post: 02

Name of the Project: STI Hub in Anta Block of Baran district, Rajasthan for improving the livelihood of SC community through selected agricultural technologies developed by IARI (PC: 28/32)

Emoluments (Fixed per month):

a) 31,000/-+ 27% HRA to Scholars who are selected through NET (CSIR/UGC including lectureship/Assistant Professorship or GATE or a selection process through National level examinations conducted by Central Government Departments and their Agencies and Institutions.
b) 28000+27% HRA who does not fall under (a) above

Educational Qualification:

  • Master’s Degree in Microbiology / Biotechnology / Social Work or equivalent from a recognized University having a minimum of 60% marks.
  • 2 years’ experience in Research and Development in Industrial and Academic Institutions or Science and Technology Organizations and Scientific activities and services.

Desirable:

  • For post 1: Working experience in technical analysis of the progress as per set guidelines of the department. Preparation of agenda notes for project advisory Committee meetings and follow up action. Maintenance of database of projects undertaken by the department and prepare specialized reports as per the requirement in parliament question, RTI, VIP reference, annual report etc.
  • For posts 2: Working experience in microbiological techniques, biofertilizers, field experiments, molecular identification of microbes, PCR, Electrophoresis etc.

Post II (b)

Job Position: Senior Project Associate

No. of Post: 01

Name of the Project: STI Hub in Anta Block of Baran district, Rajasthan for improving the livelihood of SC community through selected agricultural technologies developed by IARI (PC: 28/32)

Emoluments (Fixed per month): RS 42,000 + 27% HRA

Educational Qualification:

  • Master’s degree in Microbiology / Life Sciences / Agricultural Extension or equivalent from a recognized University having a minimum of 60% marks; and
  • Four years’ experience in Research and Development in Agriculture Sector, Academic Institutions or Science and Technology Organizations and Scientific activities and services
    OR
  • Doctoral Degree in Microbiology/Agricultural Extension/Agronomy from a recognized
    University or equivalent.

Desirable: Working experience in organizing farmers subject matter trainings/skill imparting training, FPO/SHG formation, technology demonstration experiments/ entrepreneurship training programs/knowledge about e-mandi and other Central/State Government schemes of farmers welfare.

Terms & Conditions

  2. For each post, a candidate should apply separately in a separate application form.
  3. Envelope should clearly indicate “For the Post ____ in DST funded projects”
  4. AGE: The upper age limit is 35 years for JRF and Project Associate II; 40 years for Senior Project Associate. Relaxation to SC/ST/OBC/PH/Ex-Serviceman/Women as per the Govt. of India instructions.
  5. The applicant must submit self-attested copies of certificates and proofs of claims along with application. Applicants must bring with them original documents at the time of interview for verification.
  6. The submitted applications will be screened based on essential and desirable qualifications. For screening, marks will be given on the scale of 0-10 for different parameters. Based on the merit list candidates will be called for interview in post to applicant ratio of 1:10.
  7. The date and time of the interview will be communicated to candidates selected for the interview.
  8. No objection and experience certificate from the employer in case he/she is in employment should be attached with the application.
  9. Initially the period of engagement will be for one year, and continuation will depend upon progress reviewed every six months by Principal Investigators.
  10. Positions are purely time bound, non-regular and on a co-terminus basis with the project. Appointment can be terminated on one month’s notice
  11. The selected candidate shall have no legal right to claim regularization by absorption or otherwise against any regular posts or any further contractual engagement on termination of the Project.
  12. Canvassing in any form will disqualify the candidature. The Director’s decision will be final and binding in all respects.
  13. Place of posting will be at the Division of Microbiology, IARI, New Delhi-12. However, the selected candidate may be asked to work at DST for official liaisoning and/or at selected villages at the Anta, District Baran, Rajasthan during training and demonstration activities.
  14. Travel may be required for project related work.

I then performed large-scale protein purification and conducted biochemical assays to characterize the protein’s activity. This experience has provided me with a strong foundation in the techniques required for this project.

Question: Describe your experience with UGC/CSIR/ICAR-NET or GATE qualification. How has this qualification enhanced your research skills and knowledge? Answer: I successfully qualified for the GATE examination in Microbiology, which exposed me to advanced concepts in the field and enhanced my analytical and problem-solving skills. This qualification not only demonstrates my academic competence but also reflects my dedication to pursuing rigorous research in the field.

Question: The project involves working with cyanobacteria and microalgae. Can you elaborate on your familiarity with these organisms and their cultivation? Additionally, how do you plan to handle potential challenges associated with their study? Answer: I have gained hands-on experience with cyanobacteria and microalgae during my academic and research pursuits. I understand their growth requirements, cultivation techniques, and potential challenges such as contamination control and optimizing growth conditions. I plan to apply my knowledge and learnings to ensure successful cultivation and study of these organisms.

Question: The role requires proficiency in computer skills. Can you provide examples of software tools you are proficient in and how you have utilized them in your previous research or projects? Answer: I am proficient in using software tools such as Python for data analysis, Excel for data organization, and molecular modeling software for structural analysis. In a previous project, I utilized Python to analyze large datasets and generate meaningful insights, which contributed to the interpretation of research results.
