Here are 5 possible interview questions along with their answers for the Junior Rsearch Fellow (JRF) position at CSIR-NATIONAL CHEMICAL LABORATORY:

Question 1: Can you explain the focus and objectives of the research project “Targeting Juvenile Hormone Degradation Pathway For Helicoverpa Armigera Management”? Answer: The research project aims to target the juvenile hormone degradation pathway in Helicoverpa Armigera, a pest insect, for effective pest management. By understanding and manipulating this pathway, we intend to develop strategies to control the population of these insects.

Question 2: What is the significance of the engagement being on a purely temporary basis? How does it differ from a CSIR/NCL appointment? Answer: The engagement being temporary means that it is for a specific duration, initially six months, extendable based on project needs and performance. It does not grant the appointee any permanent or long-term employment rights within CSIR/NCL. Unlike a CSIR/NCL appointment, this engagement does not entitle the appointee to any implicit or explicit right/claim for future positions.

Question 3: Could you describe your experience in molecular biology and gene expression? How have you applied these skills in your previous work? Answer: In my previous research experience, I have worked extensively with molecular biology techniques such as PCR, DNA cloning, and gene expression analysis. I have successfully cloned and expressed genes of interest, conducted gene expression studies, and performed functional assays to understand biological processes.

Question 4: Can you elaborate on your familiarity with insect bioassay and its importance in the context of the project? Answer: Insect bioassay involves assessing the effects of specific treatments on insects. In this project, it’s crucial as we’ll be testing the impact of dsRNA expression and other interventions on the targeted insect species. By conducting bioassays, we can determine the efficacy of our strategies in controlling the insect population.

Question 5: The project involves transcriptomic analysis. Can you explain the role of transcriptomics and how it contributes to understanding the research objectives? Answer: Transcriptomics involves studying the complete set of RNA transcripts in a cell or organism. In this project, transcriptomic analysis helps us identify changes in gene expression patterns caused by the interventions we’re studying. It provides insights into how the insect responds at a molecular level and aids in refining our strategies for pest management.

Remember, these answers are meant to provide guidance and can be customized based on your actual experience and knowledge.
