The Wildlife Institute of India (WII) is an internationally acclaimed Institution that works towards strengthening wildlife conservation and management through research, academics, capacity building and advisory services. The Institute is actively engaged in research across the breadth of the country on biodiversity-related issues. The WII invites applications from INDIAN NATIONALS for the advertised contractual positions under the CAMPA funded research project titled “Habitat Improvement and Conservation Breeding of Great Indian Bustard (GIB)”. The last date of receipt of online applications is Friday, 21st July 2023 up to 17:30 hrs.

Age Limit – 35
Duration – 12 months. Likely to be extendable for further period(s)
Monthly Emoluments: 35,000 + 16% HRA
Essential Qualification (EQ): Masters in any Biological Sciences discipline AND two years of fieldwork experience.
Desirable Qualification (DQ): Experience in implementing field research and conservation project preferably on bustards, good analytical and publication skills.
Description of Work -Implementation of field research, database management, data analysis, report preparation & publications.

Name of the Project – Project (CAMPA-GIB) : Habitat Improvement and Conservation Breeding of Great Indian Bustard
Age Limit – 35
Duration – 12 months. Likely to be extendable for further period(s)
Monthly Emoluments: 31,000 + 16% HRA
Essential Qualification (EQ): Masters in Biological or other Natural Sciences.
Desirable Qualification (DQ): Experience in field research and conservation works, preferably on bustards.
Description of Work – Assistance in in-situ and ex-situ conservation works of GIB/Lesser Florican (LF).
NOTE: Maximum Age Limt and relaxation applicable as per GoI rules, as prescribed above shall be as on the last date of receiving applications i.e. 21.07.2023 at the Wildlife Institute of India, Dehradun.
General Terms & Conditions
Mode of selection:
- Incomplete/late applications and applications not in the prescribed format are liable to be rejected.

- A copy of the duly fiilled-in submitted form as above along with self-attested documents viz., (a) Scanned copies of educational qualifications; (b) Scanned copies of experience letter/ certificate; (c) A concise Statement of Purpose (SOP) of approximately 300 to 500 words (in single spacing and 12-point font size); (d) Scanned copy of Demand Draft/screenshot of e-transfer receipt; and (e) a recent Passport Size Photograph shall be submitted through an e-mail as a SINGLE (.pdf file).
- The SOP must be compulsorily attached with the application, stating the purpose clearly for applying to this position, failing which applications will not be considered. There is no specified format for the SOP.
- E-mail comprising duly filled-in Application Form along with self-attested documents and only as a SINGLE (.pdf file) shall be submitted online to [email protected] with a copy to [email protected] and not later than Friday, 21st July 2023 up to 1730 hrs. Submission of multiple .pdf files would lead to the rejection of application.
- The subject of e-mail should also be clearly mentioned as “Advt. No. WII/SD/GIB/2023 : Application for the post of “________________________________________________________”.
- An application fee of Rs. 500/- has to be paid, either through demand draft or e-transfer for each position a candidate seeks to apply. The original Demand draft must be sent through speed post or by hand to CAMPA GIB, Wildlife Institute of India, Chandrabani, Dehradun PIN 248001. - If a candidate is applying for more than one post, separate Application Forms and Fee needs to be submitted. However, in any case, candidates shall be able to apply for a maximum of two positions in relevance to EQ/DQ and Description of work of the said advertised post.
- Candidate(s) presently working with any of the Government Organization/NGO/Project must ensure to attach a copy of the “No Objection Certificate” from their concerned employer/PI of the project, as the case may be.
- Shortlisting of applications for an in-person interview will be based on essential qualification, age limit, NET/GATE qualification, percentage of marks in Bachelors’ and Masters’ Degree, specialization relevance in Masters’, research experience (Publications, Paper Presented in Workshops/Seminars/ Symposiums/Conferences), SOP and extracurricular activities (as per WII rules).
- Mere fulfillment of the minimum advertised qualification and experience requirement DOES NOT automatically entitle an applicant to be called for an interview. The decision of the Institute in all matters relating to eligibility, acceptance, or rejection of the application and mode of selection will be final and binding on the candidates. No inquiry or correspondence will be entertained from any individual or agency.
- List of short-listed candidates for walk-in/online interview shall be hosted in the Institute’s website www.wii.gov.in under the link Announcement.
- A duly constituted Selection Committee will conduct all the recruitment process steps. However, if the Number of applications received for a particular post(s) is large, then Institute reserves the right to lay down any criteria to shortlist the candidates for interview
- All original documents/certificates must be produced at the time of joining for necessary verification.
- At the time of the verification of original documents or even after selection, if it is found that the applicant has attempted to wilfully conceal, misrepresent or canvass the facts, such applicant will not be considered for selection, and due action will be taken.
- Relaxation in the upper age limit shall be allowed in accordance with the Government of India, Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions (Department of Personnel & Training) O.M. No. 15012/2/ 2010-Estt. (D)dated 27.03.2012, as amended from time to time. However, the categories of upper-age relaxations are as follows:
a. Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes up to 5 years.
b. Other Backward Class (OBC) up to 3 years. - The positions advertised are purely temporary/contractual for the project period as specied in the advertisement. They will stand abolished after the completion of the project.
- The Institute’s rules and regulations govern the project’s tenure.
- After the announcement of the results, the candidate should join the project immediately.
- The Director, WII, reserves the right to reject any candidature because of incomplete information provided by the candidate or for any other reason.
