Possible Interview Questions for the Junior Research Fellow Position:

  1. Can you explain your research experience in electrochemistry or biosensors? How does it relate to the objectives of our project on diagnosing and managing anaemia? Answer: In my previous research, I focused on studying electrochemical biosensors and their applications in detecting biomarkers. This experience aligns with the project’s goal of developing cost-effective point-of-care devices for anaemia diagnosis and management. I have worked on optimizing sensor performance and analyzing biomarker interactions, which can contribute to the project’s success.
  2. Have you worked with any specific techniques or instruments related to electrochemistry or biosensors? How would you apply that knowledge to our research? Answer: Yes, during my research, I have extensively used techniques such as cyclic voltammetry, impedance spectroscopy, and electrode fabrication methods. These techniques allow for the characterization and evaluation of electrochemical sensors. I would apply this knowledge to design and develop efficient and sensitive sensors for detecting anaemia-related biomarkers.
  3. Can you provide an example of a research project you have undertaken in the past and describe the methodologies and outcomes? Answer: During my master’s program, I conducted a research project on developing a biosensor for detecting a specific biomarker in blood samples. I employed a combination of electrode modification techniques and electrochemical measurements to optimize sensor performance. The biosensor exhibited excellent sensitivity and selectivity, and we validated its performance using clinical samples. The outcomes of the project were published in a peer-reviewed journal.
  4. How do you plan to contribute to the collaborative nature of the project and work effectively with the co-investigators and research team? Answer: Collaboration is essential in research, and I believe in fostering open communication and teamwork. I will actively engage with the co-investigators and research team members, sharing my expertise and ideas to collectively address the challenges and objectives of the project. I am open to constructive discussions, feedback, and collaborating on experiments and data analysis.
  5. Can you demonstrate your ability to work efficiently and independently? Provide an example of a situation where you showed initiative and achieved significant progress. Answer: During my previous research, I was responsible for developing a new experimental protocol to improve the efficiency of data analysis. I took the initiative to explore advanced data processing techniques and implemented them in my project. As a result, we were able to extract valuable insights from the collected data more efficiently, leading to a breakthrough in our understanding of the system. This initiative demonstrated my ability to work independently, think critically, and contribute to the project’s advancement.
