Possible interview questions along with their answers that might be asked for Project Associate-II job at THSTI:

  1. Can you explain your experience in the field of Life Sciences and R&D? How has your master’s degree contributed to your knowledge and skills in this area? Answer: As a candidate with a master’s degree in Life Sciences, I have gained a comprehensive understanding of various aspects of this field, including molecular biology, biochemistry, and biophysics. Through my academic studies and research projects, I have acquired knowledge in recombinant protein purification, biochemical and biophysical assays, tissue culture work, RNA work, and RT-PCR techniques. This background has equipped me with the necessary skills to contribute to research and development activities effectively.
  2. Could you provide examples of your experience in recombinant protein purification and biochemical/biophysical assays? How have you utilized these techniques in your previous projects? Answer: During my previous research experiences, I have successfully purified recombinant proteins using techniques such as affinity chromatography and gel electrophoresis. I have also performed biochemical and biophysical assays, including enzyme activity assays, protein-protein interaction studies, and spectroscopic analyses. For instance, in a project focusing on enzyme kinetics, I utilized kinetic assays to determine reaction rates and enzyme constants. These experiences have honed my practical skills in protein purification and characterization.
  3. Describe your familiarity with molecular biology techniques such as tissue culture work, RNA work, and RT-PCR. How have you utilized these techniques in your research work? Answer: I have extensive experience in molecular biology techniques, including tissue culture work, RNA isolation, cDNA synthesis, and RT-PCR amplification. In previous projects, I successfully cultured various cell lines, performed transfections, and conducted gene expression studies. I have isolated RNA from different biological samples, synthesized cDNA, and employed RT-PCR for gene expression analysis. These techniques have enabled me to investigate gene expression patterns and study the molecular mechanisms underlying specific biological processes.
  4. Can you provide an example of a challenging situation you encountered during your research work and how you resolved it? Answer: During a research project focused on protein-protein interactions, I faced challenges in obtaining sufficient protein yields for the experiments. To overcome this issue, I revisited the expression and purification protocols, optimized the growth conditions, and modified the purification steps. By troubleshooting and adjusting various parameters, I successfully increased the protein yield and obtained the required amount for subsequent analyses. This experience taught me the importance of perseverance, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail in research.
  5. How do you stay updated with the latest advancements and techniques in the field of Life Sciences? Can you provide an example of how you implemented new knowledge in your research? Answer: To stay updated, I regularly read scientific journals, attend conferences, and participate in webinars and workshops. For example, I recently came across a novel molecular biology technique called CRISPR-Cas9 and its applications in gene editing. Intrigued by its potential, I incorporated CRISPR-Cas9 into my research project to investigate gene functions and conduct gene knockout experiments. This utilization of cutting-edge technology allowed me to expand the scope of my research and obtain novel insights.
