Here are a few interview questions with answers for the interview for Senior Research Fellow at PGIMER:
1. Can you describe your experience in molecular biology techniques, especially Next Generation Sequencing (NGS)? Answer: I have hands-on experience in molecular biology techniques, including Next Generation Sequencing (NGS). During my research and academic pursuits, I have worked extensively with NGS technologies, specifically in the context of genetic and somatic mutation analysis. I have conducted NGS experiments, analyzed sequencing data, and interpreted the results to identify genetic alterations in various biological samples. My familiarity with NGS platforms and bioinformatics tools allows me to effectively analyze and interpret complex genomic data, which would be beneficial for this project’s somatic mutation analysis in chronic myeloid leukemia patients.
2.How have you utilized your research experience in the field of Life Sciences during the past two years? Answer: Over the last two years, I have actively engaged in research projects focused on understanding the molecular basis of different diseases, including cancer. I have been involved in designing and executing experiments, analyzing data, and contributing to scientific publications. My research experience has provided me with a deeper understanding of cellular and molecular processes, especially in the context of hematological disorders like leukemia. This knowledge will be instrumental in conducting comprehensive analysis of somatic mutations in chronic myeloid leukemia patients and correlating them with response to tyrosine kinase inhibitor therapy and disease progression in the proposed project.
3.How do you plan to contribute to the ICMR project as a Senior Research Fellow (SRF)? Answer: As a Senior Research Fellow, my primary focus will be on the successful execution of the ICMR project on somatic mutation analysis in chronic myeloid leukemia patients. I will utilize my expertise in molecular biology techniques, particularly Next Generation Sequencing, to perform accurate and detailed genetic analysis. Additionally, I aim to contribute by ensuring proper data management, statistical analysis, and interpretation of results. Moreover, I will actively collaborate with other team members, assisting them with technical guidance and providing valuable insights during project discussions. My goal is to contribute significantly to the project’s objectives and aid in advancing our understanding of the relationship between somatic mutations and treatment outcomes in chronic myeloid leukemia.
4.How will your qualifications and previous experience make you stand out for this position? Answer: My qualifications and previous experience make me an ideal candidate for the Senior Research Fellow position in this ICMR project. I hold an M.Sc. in Life Sciences with a NET qualification, demonstrating my theoretical knowledge and understanding of various life science disciplines. Additionally, I have acquired two years of research experience, during which I have developed practical skills in molecular biology techniques and data analysis. My hands-on experience with Next Generation Sequencing and familiarity with bioinformatics tools will enable me to efficiently handle the genetic analysis tasks required for this project. Furthermore, having qualified in fellowship exams conducted by reputed organizations like CSIR, ICMR, and DBT, I have demonstrated my competence and dedication in the field of research. My passion for contributing to advancements in hematology and my commitment to research excellence will undoubtedly make me stand out in this role.
