General Terms & Conditions –
- The candidates selected for the above posts will be on contract for a period of one year or duration of the project whichever is shorter, at a time.
- No hostel/ housing facility will be provided.
- Applicants may clearly mention the category they belong to i.e. SC/ST/OBC/PH and attach documentary proof of the same.
- No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview, if called for.
- Apart from sending application in the prescribed format given below, candidates should send complete Curriculum Vitae along with the names of three referees. Curriculum Vitae should contain details of the experimental expertise and list of publications.

Educational Qualifications –
- Junior Research Fellow (Project): M.Sc. in Life sciences or allied subjects and NET qualification.
or - Senior Research Fellow (Project): Two years of Research experience in addition to M.Sc. in Life sciences or allied subjects and NET qualification.
Job Description & Desired Knowledge: The project involves analysis of RNA, gDNA and chromatin structure/organization in mice. The candidate must have an experience in basic molecular biology Additional experience in cell biology and/or immunology will be useful.
Emoluments –
- Junior Research Fellow (Project): The selected candidate will draw consolidated emoluments of Rs.31,000 + 24 % HRA (as per DST OM dated 30.01.2019)
or - Senior Research Fellow (Project): The selected candidate will draw consolidated emoluments of Rs.35,000 + 24 % HRA (as per DST OM dated 30.01.2019)

Answer: I have hands-on experience in performing techniques such as PCR, DNA and RNA extraction, gel electrophoresis, and gene expression analysis, which are essential for the project’s analysis of RNA, gDNA, and chromatin structure in mice.
- How familiar are you with the concept of VDJ recombination at the TCRb locus? Can you elaborate on its significance in immunology? Answer: VDJ recombination is a process that generates the diversity of antigen receptors in immune cells. At the TCRb locus, it plays a critical role in forming the T cell receptor beta chain, contributing to the immune system’s ability to recognize and respond to diverse pathogens.

Answer: During my master’s studies, I worked on a project investigating the role of specific immune cell subsets in a mouse model of autoimmune disease. This experience has provided me with a solid understanding of immunological principles and techniques.
- Can you explain how altered orientation of CTCF binding sites might affect chromatin organization, and how it relates to VDJ recombination? Answer: Altered CTCF binding sites can impact the three-dimensional chromatin structure, which, in turn, can influence the accessibility of V(D)J recombinase to the TCRb locus. This process can affect the rearrangement of variable (V), diversity (D), and joining (J) gene segments, leading to altered T cell receptor diversity and potential implications for immune responses.
- In addition to basic molecular biology, have you been involved in any cell biology-related research? If so, how can that expertise contribute to the current project? Answer: Yes, I have worked on cell culture experiments during my previous research projects. This expertise will be valuable for any investigations involving the isolation and manipulation of immune cell populations, complementing the project’s focus on chromatin organization and VDJ recombination in mice.
