Admission to M.Sc. programmes in (i) Biotechnology and (ii) Computational
and Integrative Sciences – 2023-24

Jawaharlal Nehru University is offering admission in (i) M.Sc. in Biotechnology and (ii) M.Sc. in Computational and Integrative Sciences for the Academic Session 2023-24. The details of the admission process and criteria are given below:

i. Academic Eligibility Criteria for Admission

1. M.Sc. in Biotechnology

Bachelor’s degree under 10+2+3 pattern of education in Physical, Biological (Biochemistry / Bioinformatics / Biotechnology/Botany/Microbiology/Zoology), Agricultural, Veterinary and Fishery Sciences, Pharmacy, Engineering/Technology, 4-year B.Sc.(Physician Assistant Course); MBBS/ B.D.S with at least 55% marks

2. M.Sc. in Computational and Integrative Sciences

A minimum of 55% marks in Bachelor’s degree in any branch of Basic and Applied Science or Technology, including medicine and engineering disciplines.

ii. Reservation Policy

Candidates

belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), Other Backward Classes (Non Creamy Layer (NCL) and Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) (not covered under SC, ST & OBC) category is 15%, 7.5%, 27% and 10% respectively. As per the provisions of Rights of Persons with Disabilities (PWD) Act, 2016, not less than 5% seats are reserved for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities, where “person with benchmark disability” means a person with not less than forty percent (40%) of a specified disability where specified disability has not been defined in measurable terms and includes a person with disability, as certified by the certifying authority.

Process for Admission

All candidates desirous of seeking admission in the M.Sc. programmes (i) Biotechnology and (ii) Computational and Integrative Sciences should submit their application online at website: jnuee.jnu.ac.in.

They must have appeared in the Graduate Aptitude Test-Biotechnology (GAT-B), conducted by the Regional Centre for Biotechnology on behalf of the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India. Each applicant applying for admission in these programmes must submit his/her GAT-B Registration Number, GAT-B Score and rank. JNU will use GAT-B score for admission to these programmes based on category wise merit list of candidates qualified through GAT-B-2023 displayed at https://rcb.res.in/.

Merit list shall be prepared category wise based on the score in GAT-B 2023 against the available seats in each category

Schedule for M.Sc. programmes (i) Biotechnology (ii) Computational and Integrative Sciences:

1. Online Submission of Application Form – 27th June, 2023 to 11th July, 2023 (upto 11.50 PM of 11th July, 2023)
2. Publication of First Merit Lists for Admissions – 17th July, 2023 (Tentative)
3. Pre-enrolment registration and payment of fee with blocking of seats of First List – 17th July, 2023 to 19th July, 2023 (Tentative)
4. Publication of Second Merit List for Admission – 22nd July, 2023 (Tentative)
5. Pre-enrolment registration and payment of fee with blocking of seats of Second List – 22nd July, 2023 to 24th July, 2023 (Tentative)
6. Publication of Third merit list for admission wherever considered necessary – 27th July, 2023 (Tentative)
7. Pre-enrolment registration and payment of fee with blocking of seats of Third List – 27th July, 2023 to 29th July, 2023 (Tentative)
8. Physical verification of Admission/Registration of selected candidates – 2nd August, 2023
9. Release of Final List after registration, wherever Considered necessary – 5th August 2023 (Tentative)
10. Pre-enrolment registration and payment of fee with blocking of seats of Final List – 5th August to 7th August, 2023 (Tentative)
11. Physical verification of Admission/Registration For Final list of selected candidates – 9th August, 2023
12. Deadline for Admission/Registration – 12th August, 2023 (Tentative)

Application Fees

Applicants for admission in the M.Sc. programmes (i) Biotechnology (ii) Computational and Integrative Sciences, have to pay Rs. 200/- for all categories as processing fees (non-refundable). The candidate selected for these programmes have to pay the following additional processing fees at the time of seat blocking:

For Indian National:

Rs. 1100/- for General, OBC and EWS categories
Rs. 500/- for SC, ST and PWD categories
Rs. 3280/- for Foreign National.
