Project titled: “Genomic Surveillance program for SARS-CoV-2: Consortium of India and Sri Lanka.”

Place of Working – CSIR-IMTECH, Chandigarh

Mode of Selection: Interested eligible candidates should report at CSIR-Institute of Microbial Technology, Chandigarh at the scheduled date and time cited above.

How to Apply: The prescribed application form (attached) duly filled in all respects may be submitted at the time of Walk-in-Interview. The application form should be accompanied by self attested copies of testimonial/ certificate in support of age, educational qualification, experience etc. The applicant must also bring all the original certificates/ testimonials at the time of walk-in-interview for verification.

NB: Change in date of Walk-in-Interview due to any reason, if any, will be notified in the website. And Candidates can give Interview either in Hindi or English language.

Essential Qualification: Master’s Degree in Natural or Agriculture Sciences/ MVSc or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology or Medicine from a recognized University. Only those whose final results have been declared as on the date of Interview will be eligible.

Monthly Emoluments:

  1. Rs. 31,000/- +HRA to Scholars who are selected through a (a) National Eligibility Tests – CSIR-UGC NET including lectureship or GATE or (b) A selection process through National level examinations conducted by Central Government Departments and their agencies and Institutions.
  2. Rs. 25,000/- +HRA for others who do not fall under (i) above

Answer: I have a Master’s Degree in Natural Sciences, and my academic focus has been on studying microbial genetics and genomics, which is directly relevant to the “Genomic Surveillance program for SARS-CoV-2” project.
  2. Question: Have you participated in any National Eligibility Tests such as CSIR-UGC NET or GATE? If yes, please elaborate on your scores and achievements. Answer: Yes, I have appeared for the CSIR-UGC NET examination and secured a high rank. My performance in the test qualifies me for the higher monthly emoluments of Rs. 31,000/- along with HRA.
  3. Question: Can you share an example of a research project or academic assignment where you demonstrated your proficiency in genomic surveillance techniques or relevant methodologies? Answer: During my Master’s program, I worked on a research project that involved genomic surveillance of antibiotic-resistant bacteria. I employed various molecular techniques to analyze genomic data and identify genetic markers associated with resistance.
  4. Question: The project requires working collaboratively with researchers from India and Sri Lanka. How would you handle communication and coordination challenges in such a cross-border consortium? Answer: I believe effective communication is essential in any collaborative project. I would use various communication channels like video conferences, emails, and regular meetings to ensure seamless coordination and sharing of information with the consortium members.
  5. Question: What motivates you to work on the “Genomic Surveillance program for SARS-CoV-2” project, and how do you envision contributing to its success? Answer: As someone passionate about genomic research and its applications, I find this project particularly exciting. I aim to apply my knowledge and skills to analyze and interpret genomic data, providing valuable insights into the virus’s evolution and transmission patterns, ultimately contributing to public health efforts and strategies.
