JUNIOR RESEARCH FELLOW
(ON PROJECT)

Role: Junior Research Fellow

Project title: “DST-SERB funded project on Breast cancer metastasis at Cancer Research Institute(CRI)-ACTREC”

Duration: Six months. The work progress of candidates will be monitored and extension after 6 months

Eligible candidates may attend the walk in interview on Wednesday, 16th August, 2023 in Conference Room, 3rd Floor, Khanolkar Shodhika, ACTREC, along with recent CV & original and attested copies of all certificates (Experience & Qualification) and testimonials with recent passport size photographs.

Reporting Time: 09.45 a.m. to 10.15 a.m

Educational qualification and experience :

*M.Sc. (Life Sciences) or equivalent with minimum 60% marks in the qualifying exam. Candidate should be CSIR-UGC NET or GATE qualified. Working experience in mammalian tissue culture, gene cloning and expression, Western blotting, QPCR and animal handling is required. Cancer bioinformatics analysis knowledge is desirable. Candidates with demonstrated experience in publication will be preferred.

*M.Sc. degree having duration of one year course will not be considered.
Selected candidate will have to join at the earliest; hence result-awaited candidates will not be eligible to apply for the post.

Consolidated salary: Rs. 38,440/- per month. (Rs. 31,000/-+24%HRA) p.m.

I have successfully cultured various cell lines, maintained their growth, and performed experiments involving these cells. Additionally, I have hands-on experience in gene cloning, including designing primers, performing PCR amplification, and constructing expression vectors for gene overexpression studies.
  1. Question: How familiar are you with Western blotting and qPCR techniques? Answer: I have a good level of proficiency in Western blotting, a widely-used technique to detect and analyze specific proteins in biological samples. I am well-versed in the gel electrophoresis process, antibody probing, and signal detection using chemiluminescence or other methods. Regarding qPCR (quantitative polymerase chain reaction), I have experience in designing and optimizing qPCR assays, extracting RNA/DNA from samples, performing reverse transcription, and analyzing the data using appropriate software.
  1. Question: Can you discuss your knowledge of cancer bioinformatics analysis? Answer: While I don’t have extensive experience in cancer bioinformatics analysis, I have taken relevant courses during my education and have a basic understanding of the principles and tools used in this field. I am aware of using various bioinformatics databases, software, and algorithms to analyze gene expression, pathways, and mutations associated with cancer.
