The Technical Research Centre (TRC), funded by the Department of Science & Technology (DST) and Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India at S.N. Bose National Centre for Basic Sciences, Kolkata invites applications from Indian nationals for the post of Project Assistants (8 positions) in the TRC Project on a contractual basis:

Name of the Post: Project Assistants

Age Limit: Not more than 35 years.

Duration: Period of contract will be initially for 1 (one) year. The appointment can be renewed yearly on the basis of the performance

till the end of the project.

Interested candidates are requested to apply with a given prescribed format to “The Registrar, S. N. Bose National Centre for Basic Sciences, Block – JD, Sector – III, Salt Lake, Kolkata – 700106, India”, with comprehensive resume complete in all respects mentioning the salary presently drawn along with the photocopy of the following documents: (i) proof of age, (ii) educational, professional qualifications and experience, (iii) present salary certificate duly forwarded by the Head of the Organization. Application must reach within 21 days from the date of the publication of the advertisement. The envelope should be superscribed with words “Post Applied for Project Assistant in TRC Project”. Essential Qualification – M. Sc./M. Tech in Physics / Applied Physics / Chemical Science / Biological Science / Instrumentation /Applied optics/Engineering / Bio-medical/ Mechanical/ Metallurgy
or B. Tech /B.E. in Computer Science / Electrical / Electronics / Mechanical/ Metallurgy / Instrumentation / Biological Science / Applied optics
or B. Sc. in Physics / Applied Physics / Chemical Science / Biological Science / Instrumentation / Engineering / Science / Biomedical with 2 yrs. experience having maintenance of sophisticated instruments or relevant experience.

Desirable:

  1. First Class in all above qualifying degree.
  2. The qualification and experience of the candidate applying in TRC should have a good overlap with the activities of TRC. All experiences will be only in areas relevant to project work and done in academic Institutions / national laboratories or R & D laboratories including industrial R & D establishments.

Consolidated Salary: Rs. 34,000/- (approximately) per month including of all allowances.

Note: For candidates with exceptional academic records and/or experience that are closely aligned with the requirements of TRC, the age and experience may be relaxed by the competent authority. For SC, ST and OBC candidates the relaxation as per GOI rules will apply.

I actively collaborated with fellow researchers, sharing ideas, conducting experiments, and analyzing data. Together, we successfully published our findings in a reputable scientific journal.
  3. How do you ensure accuracy and precision when working with sophisticated instruments or conducting experiments in a laboratory setting?
    • Answer: Accuracy and precision are crucial in scientific research. To ensure these, I meticulously follow standard operating procedures while handling instruments, calibrating them regularly, and maintaining a clean and controlled laboratory environment. Additionally, I always double-check measurements and record data accurately to minimize errors.
  4. Can you provide an example of a challenging situation you faced during a previous project and how you resolved it?
    • Answer: In one of my research projects, we encountered unexpected equipment failure just before an important experiment. To overcome this challenge, I quickly identified the issue and collaborated with the technical team to troubleshoot and repair the equipment. We managed to resolve the problem within a short timeframe, ensuring minimal disruption to the project timeline.
  5. How do you stay updated with the latest advancements and techniques in your field of expertise?
    • Answer: To stay current in my field, I regularly attend scientific conferences, workshops, and seminars. I also subscribe to reputable scientific journals and publications, allowing me to stay informed about the latest research findings and advancements. Additionally, I actively engage in discussions with colleagues and participate in online forums to exchange knowledge and learn from others in the scientific community.
