INTERVIEW QUESTIONS FOR THE REGIONAL CENTRE FOR BIOTECHNOLOGY Project Associate JOB
👍We hope this helps in giving you a rough idea as to how to prepare for the interview for this specific role. Good luck!
- Can you provide an overview of your academic background and research experience in the field of Life Sciences/Biotechnology/Molecular Biology? Additionally, have you qualified any National level JRF eligibility tests such as NET or DBT?
- Answer: I have completed my MSc/MTech in Life Sciences/Biotechnology/Molecular Biology, which has provided me with a strong foundation in these disciplines. I have also qualified the National level JRF eligibility test, NET. Throughout my academic journey, I have been exposed to various research projects and practical training, allowing me to gain hands-on experience in molecular biology techniques and research methodologies.
- The project focuses on the development of aptamer-nanoparticles conjugates as theranostic agents for phytopathogenic fungi. Can you discuss any previous experience or expertise you have in working with nanoparticles or studying fungal pathogens?
- Answer: During my research and academic pursuits, I have had the opportunity to work on projects involving nanoparticles and their applications in the field of biotechnology. I have gained experience in the synthesis and characterization of nanoparticles, including their functionalization for specific applications. Regarding fungal pathogens, I have conducted studies on their molecular biology, including genetic manipulation techniques like gene knockout. This experience has provided me with a solid foundation to contribute to the project’s objectives.
- The position requires experience in handling fungal cultures. Can you describe your previous experience in working with fungal cultures, including the techniques and methodologies employed?
- Answer: I have been actively involved in handling fungal cultures during my research and laboratory work. I have experience in maintaining pure fungal cultures, subculturing, and performing various microbiological techniques for their growth and propagation. Additionally, I have worked on optimizing culture conditions and assessing fungal growth parameters. I am familiar with aseptic techniques, media preparation, and characterizing fungal isolates through morphological and biochemical methods.
- The role also involves utilizing molecular biology tools and fungal gene knockout techniques. Can you elaborate on your experience with these techniques and provide examples of projects or experiments where you have successfully employed them?
- Answer: I have hands-on experience in utilizing various molecular biology tools such as PCR, DNA extraction, cloning, and gene expression analysis. I have designed and performed gene knockout experiments in fungal organisms using targeted gene disruption techniques. One notable project involved the knockout of a specific gene involved in virulence factors in a phytopathogenic fungus. Through this project, we were able to establish a direct link between the gene and fungal pathogenicity, furthering our understanding of fungal-host interactions.
- The project emphasizes the need for a hardworking and team-oriented candidate with interpersonal skills. Can you provide examples of instances where you demonstrated these qualities in a research or team setting?
- Answer: During my previous research experiences, I actively participated in collaborative projects and worked effectively within a team environment. I believe in open communication, sharing ideas, and collaborating with team members to achieve common goals. I have contributed to successful research publications by actively engaging in discussions and presenting my findings to the team. Additionally, I have also mentored junior researchers and assisted them in their research activities. My dedication, adaptability, and positive work ethic enable me to work well as part of a team and contribute to the overall success of a project.
