about the exam difficulty, respondents provided valuable feedback. The analysis revealed that 48% of the students found it Moderate, while 36% perceived it as difficult. 8% of students found the exam Very tough & only 5% found it easy. PART A, B, or PART C Which was the most difficult?
Identifying the portions of the exam that students find most challenging is crucial for targeted improvement efforts. The survey asked respondents to identify the most difficult portion of the exam. The analysis revealed that, for the morning session, 38% of the respondents mentioned Part C as the most challenging, followed by 28% mentioning Part B. However, when we analyzed the response from the afternoon session attendees, a different scenario came forward.
According to the respondents of the afternoon session, 41% of people found Part B the most difficult, followed by 25% who thought Part C was the most challenging. Around 25% of respondents in both sessions found all three sections equally challenging.
Part B questions are usually direct and fact-based. The reason for students finding them difficult can be either the question asked regarding some recent research happening in the field or the questions were twisted. A better and more detailed analysis we can provide on this only after the question paper is released.
Technical Difficulties Faced During The Exam
Since the pandemic times, CSIR NET has been conducted in CBT mode. We asked the attendees about any technical trouble they had faced. 99.5% of students reported no technical issues during the exam.
Types of Questions Asked
The survey also asked the students the questions or the topics asked in the exam if they remembered. According to their input, we can see in the morning session the question was asked from pH calculation, MM equation, glycolysis process, G- banding technique, translation inhibitors, sucrose biosynthesis, hemolysis of RBC, mark and recapture method, Hardy Weinberg equilibrium, altruism, and bright field microscopy.
In the afternoon session, questions were there from enzyme kinetics, lipid membrane, A, B, and Z form of DNA, Coronavirus receptors, verbalization of flowering plants, Arabidopsis development, secondary metabolites, vasoconstrictor, homeostasis, circadian rhythm, theories of evolution and restriction endonuclease recognition site.
The preliminary analysis of the CSIR NET exam survey data provides valuable insights into student perceptions and challenges. The survey highlighted variations in the exam difficulty perception among the students, emphasizing the need for tailored support and resources. Additionally, identifying the most difficult portions offers valuable guidance for targeted improvements in exam preparation and curriculum design.
However, this report is based on the student survey. We will be publishing the detailed analysis of the CSIR NET June 2023 exam along with the answer key as soon as the question paper is released by NTA.
